Havering Claim - backdated to the 12th

Havering was at the back of the East End Packs territories in London; which seemed to be - by general consensus - a Bad Thing. Emboldened by their ability to vote, the wolves of the East End pack rally behind their Alpha (or would-be Alpha depending on who you asked) and his choice to take the territory. Some decide that acting on this is in the interest of their safety, some are simply hungry for more, some want to see the Fae out of London - whatever their reason, people are rallying.

The affair is not without bloodshed however, but the fighting is not horrifying. The Fae knew this was coming and had prepared to struggle against it - but what they could not know was that the wolves brought numbers in the form of allies.

Daybreak witches mainly accompanied groups of wolves to help clear out areas and keep the fae from individually doing too much damage. Among the Daybreak witches, there is a small number of Midnight witches - spearheaded by Abigail Widdowson herself. Apparently there was some sort of agreement between Memon and herself.

Eventually, the Havering territory - after a day of little fighting and more than enough protests - falls to the wolves.

Abigail had made it clear among the witches of Circle Midnight that this was entirely voluntary. None of them had to be here, and she certainly wouldn't punish any who declined. Nor would there be any overt reward for those who helped. It was a matter to the conscience, nothing more.

Still, Abigail is among the wolves' forces, though she goes for diplomacy where she can. After all, the fae aren't enemies she wants, but she has a deal with the leader of the East End.

"Thank you, ma'am," she offers, slightly shooing an older woman with bags. Of course, she's taken a couple up to help the woman out to the car, and she puts them both in the boot carefully. "I know this is inconvenient--"

"Oh, you're too young to understand what's inconvenient. This is the sort of thing one expects. It keeps things interesting, dear."

"She knows my uncle," Abigail offered with a smile.

It sounds innocent, but, well. She isn't sure whether the woman would have been quite so cooperative without knowing that Unthank's latest ward was the one showing her out of her house.

Finnick stalks the back streets with his trident. Sometimes he's accompanied by a group of Seelie fae who are ready to fight, but otherwise he's on his own, his magic having grown stronger, strong enough to put down a wolf if they're one on one. In the beginning he seems calm and collected; it's a standard fight and they had warning, so any vulnerable fae have been encouraged to leave the area.

His tone shifts significantly when he realizes there are witches among them. He still fights smart, but his anger is unmistakable. He knows he should have seen this coming - James said as much in their meeting - but it just stings to know the witches want them gone this much. That they'll send dogs to push them out. He spends more time alone after that, directing Seelie fae to where they'll be most useful and waiting in the shadows to strike whatever witch or wolf comes to cross him.

Alex doesn't really want to be here. The territory isn't important to her, and she doesn't know why James wants it. But the rest of the pack agrees with James, they're all here, and she's not going to sit out a fight.

So she's stalking the streets, showing as much force as necessary, sometimes more than she'd like. There are a few close calls, too, but nothing that worries her much. She doesn't plan on killing anybody or on getting killed tonight.

At first, she works with a couple of witches, but as the night drags on, she ends up by herself. She prefers being on her own, anyway.

The silver dagger in her hand has been glowing on and off all night. As she wanders off a well-lit street into a darker area, it begins to glow again, and she stops, glancing around. There are plenty of places a fae could hide here. She can't be sure where the attack will come from, but she's pretty sure it's coming.

"You might as well come out, I know you're there."

Finnick watches the wolf wander down the street carefully, eyeing her knife as he curls his fingers around the handle of his trident just in case she finds him out and decides to attack. He only attacks when aggression is shown by the other party first - he's not the indiscriminate kind of fae soldier or lord or whatever he's supposed to be now.

When she calls him out, he debates just running, but he's a bit curious about her, so he takes a step out of the deep shadows in the alleyway just behind her and leans on the building holding his trident at his side.

"You wolves and your sense of smell," he remarks. "You can find the enemy but you have no idea how in over your head you're getting."

Alex whirls around to face him, quickly sizing him up, deciding how easily she could take him in a fight, searching for any obvious weak points. It's hard to tell. Fae are deceptive, and even the most unassuming of them could have powerful magic. This one actually looks fit, though, and the trident could be dangerous.

"I can take care of myself." Lately it feels like everybody's been implying that she can't handle herself in a fight. Despite her lack of enthusiasm for this whole situation, she's kind of itching to prove them all wrong.

"Are you going to leave, or not?" she asks, trying to muster more authority than she feels.
thelittlemerman: (snark//i don't care)

[personal profile] thelittlemerman 2016-05-30 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Finnick sneers at her but stays where he is despite the deep personal offense she has incited in him. He doesn't recognize any authority from any wolf, let alone one so young, and she's trying to tell him to leave?

"You're the one intruding," he says simply, with a bit of venom.
facethewolves: (excuse u)

Alex can't deny that. This was the fae's territory until James decided he wants it for whatever reason. But it doesn't change anything - either this guy goes, or she has to try to make him go.

"It's my job to make you leave."
thelittlemerman: (smile//you seem boring)

[personal profile] thelittlemerman 2016-06-02 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes him scoff. He gestures at her with his trident, just to remind her he has a longer reach than she does in case the claws start flying.

"Well, it's my job to stop that from happening," he says.

"You can't win this. We've got the numbers to make sure you're all gone by morning. You might as well go."

She knows some fae have been fighting back. It might not be as easy as all that. But she stares him down stubbornly, not acknowledging the threat of his trident.

"Don't you know who you're talking to?"

It's a rhetorical question. He doubts many people outside the fae would actually recognize a minor lord like himself, but it gets the effect across rather well. The point is, he's important. "I will stay until I see the last of the fae out safely. Don't forget it's you who drew me out of the shadows and not the other way around; you could have kept walking."

Alex takes that to mean that he's someone famous and important, and that she should know who he is. But she doesn't, and that irritates her.

"And let you attack me from behind?" She glares at him. "Look, if you're just... if you're just making sure your people get out okay, or whatever, I won't fight you." She tries to sound magnanimous - while she knows she's not really doing him a favor, she wants to keep up an air of being on the obviously superior side - but it comes out sounding more like a challenge.
thelittlemerman: (jerkface//unfortunately i think that's t)

[personal profile] thelittlemerman 2016-06-12 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
He rolls his eyes as if the thought of her fighting him is a minor annoyance. "I won't attack you tonight," he says, "and now I've said it so you know you're safe from me. Now move along and go back to your alpha so you can throw a party for your successful, pointless little land-grab."

The fight itself is of little concern to Eames — they'd prepared for this, known it was coming. A shame they can't handle silver to put the dogs down more efficiently, but what can you do?

The witches change the battlefield, but that too isn't a surprise. Not with James' boasts of having their support, and Eames moves through Havering with a pair of Unseelie in tow, (an ogre and a siren, glamourless, for the curious,) dispatching anyone not on their side quickly and efficiently.

He's really not in the mood for all of this.

It's when he notes a witch using more... Curious magic that his methods change, and Eames focuses up on getting information. Cornering witches to find out who sent them, what coven they're part of. He takes their names and their information and promises to let them leave alive if they too swear to leave Havering without hurting a single other Fae, and he's always made good on his promises. It's just such a shame when someone reneges on their word.
