It's Thomas's Birthday and Everyone's Invited
Invitations had gone to everyone Thomas knew, and it was made expressly clear that they could bring whoever and however many people they wanted. He also made it clear that all who were present were guests, not food, and that while consensual feeding was permissible, no one was obligated to let anyone feed from them. He also made it clear that absolutely no one was obligated to wear any more clothing than they wished, and if someone wanted to show up partially or even entirely nude, he would thoroughly enjoy it.
His apartment itself was a large luxury apartment, and the living room area would easily be able to handle the guests even if there was a good turnout. He'd put out a table that had plenty of store bought snack trays and desserts, as well as a bowl of punch that was labeled 'no blood' and another 'blood punch' bowl that was labeled 'blood'. The kitchen counter had several bottles of various types of alcohol and plenty of beer for anyone to serve themselves at will. The living room, kitchen, dining room and main bathroom were immaculate, at least at the start of the party.
However, should anyone wander back to where Thomas's bedroom and master bath were, they would discover that Thomas was actually a slob, and simply didn't use the majority of his apartment, as they'd find those areas had dirty clothes strewn about, as well as beer bottles and other miscellaneous items. However, the door to those rooms was shut to discourage people going there, and there was a second bedroom that was entirely empty that he'd encourage people to go to instead should they wish to find some place a little more private.
Thomas himself had decided to dress in honor of a comment Natasha had made in jest once, wearing tight jeans under chaps, a pair of cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. There was even a tiny little vest that didn't reach far enough across his chest to be buttoned. Naturally, there was no shirt.
[[OOC: Thomas will be going around and talking to everyone, but this is a party mingle log so feel free to post amongst yourselves.]]

For the birthday boy, she's come with a gift- a rather nice shirt that she thought would be hilarious to gift him. Given that oh- well, look at that. Absolutely no shirt.
At this point, she'd be shocked if he ever did wear a shirt.

Opening the present, his grin widened.
"Let me guess, you took a look at all the things I had, and noticed that there was one thing I didn't seem to own."
no subject
"Not an original thought, I gather?"

"It's fine. I might even wear it. I do wear shirts sometimes. Just not on vampire business, usually."
But when he was hanging out at bars, or just relaxing at home, he usually did wear a shirt. He just liked playing up the whole 'sexy vampire' image when he was doing something somewhere that would be linked to his vampire image.

"So I've noticed." She chuckles a little. "I hope you do like your gift. The party's wonderful, so far." High praise from the woman who liked spending her free nights with a book and a cup of tea.

"Thank you. I always prefer more relaxed, informal parties than the types most vampires throw, myself."
Of course, that could be because most vampires were significantly older than 34, and were more likely to want an old fashioned ball than something that mostly focused on people hanging out and having a good time. He suspected Evie felt the same way, since she didn't seem like the type to want to go around in a fancy dress. He could be wrong, though.

"And here's to that." She lifts a glass toward him with a calm smile. "And the birthday boy, of course."

In other words, the fact that they didn't have Raymond at the head anymore.

"At least we're back on the Night Council."

Of course, he didn't really think he could ignore them forever, but he certainly did think he could avoid thinking about them too much now that Jean-Claude was in a position to make sure things didn't get too crazy.
"I am glad we're back on Night Council, though. That was a worrying position we were in for a bit, there."

And that was very important. If they seemed rabid, others would want to put them down. If they seemed civilized, others would consider working with them. It was very important to control that image.

"I think it will. It's the dawning of a new era in politics, truly."
no subject
"Oh, I agree. I don't think there could have been a bigger change in the philosophy of how the nest is run."
He hoped the other supernatural races would take that as a sign that they could give the new regime and the nest a chance to prove itself, though he wouldn't be surprised if they didn't trust it right away. After all, vampires could be tricky and conniving, and just because they put a stop to the outward brutality, everyone was still well aware of just what sorts of instincts lay beneath the surface.

Knowing Thomas' take on her fancy dress code, she'd gone out and found the skimpiest party dress that she could wear and still feel comfortable in. It was definitely nice to see the attention it got her.
When she finally spotted Thomas, she grinned. "Happy birthday!"

His gaze slide up and down her dress, and his smile widened. Of course Thomas appreciated scantily clad women. And men, too, sometimes.
"And I see you're taking a page out of my book and enjoying a more relaxed dress code than what I usually see you in. I like it. Are you having fun?"

And even if something did go awry, he would see no reason why Caroline should be the one to fix it. After all, she was the guest this time, so she should relax and have fun, in Thomas's opinion. Besides, Thomas's idea of a party was pretty low maintenance.

After all, who wouldn't want to join a party of people oiling up sexy vampires? They could probably get that now, but doing something like that at night just wasn't the same.

Because that sounded like it would be an awesome time to him.

He was just happy to have people present and ready to have a good time.
