hazy shade of winter - january open post
[Another open post for both Evie and Nancy. Starters are in the comments, feel free to grab me at
sheakespeare if you want something specific, or write your own starter, I'm not picky.]

Her answer puts him at ease enough to joke, "Your loss, then. My fur's fuckin' cute." Which is probably a bullshit statement. He's never fully seen what he looks like when he's like that- he's generally too feral to remember to stop and look in a mirror. Still, her not wanting his pelt is fine by him. He kind of needs it.
Ghoul looks down at the ground, grinding a stray pebble between the sole of his shoe and the concrete as he proceeds to delicately prod her for more information. "Sounds like most of your buddies don't feel the same way. You some kinda loner carebear or something?"

Plus, he looks incredibly non-threatening.
"Oh, hardly. The new Duke, Jean-Claude will not see anyone rewarded for bringing him pelts. On the contrary, he plans to punish those who do." So, y'know, that's good.

The way his head snaps back up and the eagerly curious ring to his voice doesn't help him seem any more formidable, sadly. "What? Really?" That's got to be a step in the right direction, right? "Did he, uh, bother to tell anybody over here that? 'Cause..." That's not the impression Ghoul's gotten from his side of the fence.

Evie gives him a wry look. "He did. But damage has been done to the East End pack from the Nest. It will take something to try to heal, and I don't anticipate it will be easy." There was history between Islington and East End.
no subject
Thing is, from what he's heard, he actually finds it understandable. Very counterproductive, yeah, but he's not sure he'd be any different if he were in her place.
"You've been here for a while, yeah?" He's frowning, all tangled up in conflicting thoughts. It's frustrating, which he expresses by giving the pebble a light kick and watching it skitter across the boundary line. Hah, take that. "What do you think about all this shit?" Because it's good to hear multiple opinions.

"Raymond Harris was stuck in an age that has not existed for a long time. He was a tyrant, and I was happy to see him go, as were so many. Even they could see that food tastes worse when they're scared." Happy donors are the best donors. "Jean-Claude has far to go to restore Islington to where it was previously, but he will. Of that I've no doubt. Until then, I assure you that you have a friend in me."
no subject
Ew.
He makes no comment on it, though. Rather, he chews at his bottom lip in silence, indecisive on what, exactly, he wants to say. "I 'preciate that. But, uh..." He pauses. He's not sure if this is even worth trying. Islington and East End fighting each other is just what they do, but something about this doesn't settle under Ghoul's skin right. He gets the same tense, prickly feeling here that he'd had back home before things really got out of hand.
Fuck it.
"That John guy?" Oh geez, what a great start. "I dunno how he feels about all this territory shit, but if you get a chance to talk to him, maybe tell him not to make any moves in this direction. And you seem like a nice lady. I kinda like you. So I'm gonna tell you that you shouldn't even come close to this," he sweeps an arm downwards, gesturing towards the territory line, "for a while."
He sounds pretty serious about it, although not in a threatening way. Not even in an I don't think you can handle yourself way. What he means is things are about to blow the fuck up and this will be ground zero.

Evie looks at the invisible border between the two territories. She's not worried. Wolves may be strong, but she's stronger, and she's trained. But that doesn't mean she doesn't take the information to heart.
"Thank you." She gives him a solemn bow of her head. "Keep your nose clean, a man like you doesn't need to be getting mixed up in any of this. That being said-" she reaches out towards the border, holding in her hand a white card. Her name, proper titles included, as well as an email address and phone number were listed. In the right light, the Assassin symbol could be seen, just a few shades darker than the white card.
"Evie Frye."
no subject
He moves in closer, far enough to pluck the offered card from her fingers. Damn, she must be a big deal if she's got her own cards. "Fancy." He scans over it quickly, glancing back up at her a moment later. "This mean you're a lawyer, or some frilly job like that? You look like you could wreck the shit outta somebody in a courtroom."
no subject
"Thank you- but no, I'm no lawyer. But I'm fairly certain I could 'wreck the shit outta somebody' in more than just a courtroom." She doesn't elaborate.
no subject
"Ain't got a pretty card for you or anything, but if you wanna find me for some reason, just ask around for Ghoul." Well with a name like that, there's hardly a risk of mistaken identity. So that's. Something.
no subject
"Do all young wolves have such strange names now?" She has to ask. "I met another man, around your age, named Party." She's not sure if they know each other, she's just mentioning it. "Then again, I suppose vampires are the ones to talk."
no subject
He smirks, shaking his head, "But, nah, pretty much everybody else here goes by normal names. Me and him are just special. And Evie ain't bad, y'know."
no subject
"Oh, I never said it was. It's a timeless name, I've found."
no subject
They make it work, much like how Ghoul is making this work despite the whole rival factions deal. "You know of any names I should watch out for? The weirder the better. Those're easy to remember." Because, surely, they can't all be nice over there.

"Good, I'd hate to have to kill you." Any trace of a smile is gone. But it's a warning- it means she likes you.
no subject
"You gave me an idea for some homework. Guess I'll quit lookin' at your stuff and go do that." He turns after giving her a quick wave, retreating further in to East End's area. "See you later."
He's got a redhead to find.
