Islington Nest Christmas Party, Dec 17 [Open to all Nest members and their guests]

Caroline has worked hard to put together the evening's event, which is not only a Christmas party but also hopefully a chance for the Nest to celebrate its new leadership. The room at the Angelo has been decorated with a winter wonderland theme which, while not exactly original, is quite lovely.

A string quartet is playing a selection of Christmas and other classical music. Any attempts to feed on the musicians will result in the perpetrator getting thrown out the party, or worse. But feeding on any of the hired help or performers should be unnecessary, since several varieties of "blood punch" are available to drink. There is also food and other drinks available for non-vampire guests and anyone else who wishes to partake.

There is a strict black tie only dress code and Caroline will tell anyone who is under-dressed to go home and change.

[The event is happening on Dec 17th but I wanted to get it up early so everyone had time to do get involved if they so desired.]

Jean-Claude has been making the rounds of the guests himself, sometimes with a glass of punch in hand, sometimes without. He spots Thomas from across the room and quirks a smile at the other vampire before making his way across to him. He himself is wearing a red and gold brocade vest over his usual poet's shirt, a red velveteen jacket overtop it all. It makes him look paler than normal, his black hair blacker, and his blue eyes bluer, and he knows it. He has more color about him, from having recently fed, and his lips are slightly stained from the punch.

"Mon ami," he says in greeting to the other vampire. "I almost did not recognize you, in all these clothes."

"I know. It's strange for me, too. I can't wait to take them off." Was that a hint of suggestion in his voice? Yes, yes it was. "Unfortunately I was informed that this party had a dress code, and I didn't think Caroline would accept a black tie and slacks if it wasn't accompanied by a shirt, at least."

Even though he did wonder if she might, once she saw how amazing his abs were. They were truly a work of beauty, after all.

"Congratulations on your recent promotion, by the way."

A promotion that Thomas had helped with, of course.

Jean-Claude lets out the deep rumble of a laugh and a smile that suggests he might enjoy such a sight from the other vampire, before he lets Thomas carry the conversation in a different direction.

He inclines his head as the other man congratulates him on his Dukedom, offering the other man a small bow in return, a motion that might have looked old-fashioned on anyone else that hadn't actually lived through a century where such a thing was done, but on Jean-Claude it looks natural as breathing.

"You have my thanks, mon ami, for standing by my side through the whole ordeal. I hope the latest change is to your liking?" he can't help but ask. He has to say, he is curious to see how others experience of the past month or so has been.

Thomas's smirk, combined with his smoldering gaze, made it clear that Thomas certainly would not mind shedding his clothes for Jean-Claude's benefit. But, alas, they were at a party, and even Thomas sometimes had things to talk about that weren't about sex.

"You're very welcome. I was more than glad to stand by you, and the change is very much to my liking. I do like my meals ready and eager, so current policies do make that quite a bit easier."

After all, when vampires weren't permitted to just kill and eat them, people were far more likely to willingly sign on to let an attractive and flirtatious vampire spend some time alone with them and have a drink.

Jean-Claude smiles and nods in response to the other man's words about his changes in the donor policies. He'd done it mostly because he'd had to make a chance, he had to make certain the the vampires of the nest understood that there were new rules, new processes, and they were to be followed. No more murder in the streets, no more taking whatever they wanted when they wanted it. They were to answer to rules the same as anyone else, especially so that the others would trust them more. More than they had before, certainly.

"I am glad that there are those that approve of my changes," he replies, diplomatically. "I know for a fact that there are many others who do not. They are just far too afraid to say as much to my face."

"Of course." He'd known there were some that were enjoying the carnage. Some that they might not have necessarily been among Raymond's direct supporters. After all, if there hadn't been chaos and killing in the streets, they likely would not have lost their seat on the Night Council.

"There will always be detractors, but I, for one, have been enjoying how things are going."

Jean-Claude tilts his head at the other vampire, offering him a gracious smile in turn.

"That is good to hear," he replies. "One always worried about a rocky start, in such situations. Though I am interested to hear more of your opinion of me," he adds with a roguish smile. Whether he is speaking as the Duke of London Central or as Jean-Claude, proprietor of Guilty Pleasures however is up for Thomas to decide.

"Hm..." he said, considering his response. "Well, your ideas are certainly interesting. And as someone who's more of a lover than a fighter myself, I certainly appreciate this change of pace. To be honest, with Raymond I was worried hunters would end up making an effort to wipe us all out, but with you, I don't think that'll be a problem."

He was already standing close, but still managed to took a step closer, smile growing. "Unless, of course, that's not the opinion you were asking about, in which case I'd like to point out that you look amazing in that outfit, even if I do prefer you out of it."
