Islington Nest Christmas Party, Dec 17 [Open to all Nest members and their guests]

Caroline has worked hard to put together the evening's event, which is not only a Christmas party but also hopefully a chance for the Nest to celebrate its new leadership. The room at the Angelo has been decorated with a winter wonderland theme which, while not exactly original, is quite lovely.

A string quartet is playing a selection of Christmas and other classical music. Any attempts to feed on the musicians will result in the perpetrator getting thrown out the party, or worse. But feeding on any of the hired help or performers should be unnecessary, since several varieties of "blood punch" are available to drink. There is also food and other drinks available for non-vampire guests and anyone else who wishes to partake.

There is a strict black tie only dress code and Caroline will tell anyone who is under-dressed to go home and change.

[The event is happening on Dec 17th but I wanted to get it up early so everyone had time to do get involved if they so desired.]

Caroline beams when she sees Nancy and Cooper come in. A few friendly faces go a long way.

"Thank you, it's been a lot of work but so I think it was all worth it." She smiles, looking down at her dress - it really was Grace of Monaco hot, thank you Klaus. And far too pretty to only wear once. "You look great too, I love your jewellery."

Having rich boyfriends (or clients) was always such a wonderful thing. Pretty dresses, designer shoes, and now, indeed, Nancy's jewelry.

"If the party turns out to be as great as the decorations, I'm sure it absolutely is." She gives her a bright smile.

"Thank you! You asked what Cooper got me..." she beams. Goodness, she loves him.

"The party is going to turn out better, I'll make sure of it." Or at least, she intends to do everything she can to keep things running smoothly. And if she needs to appeal to more powerful people to help, so be it.

"I told you he was going to get you something," she said with a smile. "The necklace especially is stunning."

"Of that, I have no doubt." She laughs a little.

Nancy rolls her eyes. "I know, but I didn't want him to. Then he threatened to take them back." Only after he'd laughed at her until he was crying. Which, honestly, still stung if she thought about it too much. So she didn't.

She gently touches the necklace. "Thank you- I love it. I really wanted to show them off tonight. Can't blame a girl, can you?" She had other nice jewelry. Eames had given her emeralds before, Lord Coward had given her garnets. What she'd really wanted was a diamond from Bill, but he'd always thought the idea was laughable.

"I would never blame you for anything."

Caroline looks around the room, happy to see even more guests appearing. "So, is there anyone I should keep an eye out for? I know, I know, I should ask Cooper, but I'd must rather ask you. It's a convenience thing."

Nancy doubts that, but she lets the conversation rest there.

Nancy has to smile at that. "Eye out in which way?" The you're bangable way or the you are evil way.

"Well, first, people who I should know because they're important or those who are just fun to be around. Definitely let me know which ones I should say hello to once and then avoid for the rest of the night." She pauses, then smiles playfully. "And if you could find me a date, I wouldn't say no."

"Oh, so I'm your matchmaker now?" Well. She did know how a good many of the men here were in bed.

She looks around. "Say hello to Cesare Borgia- I'm sure you already have, this is his hotel after all. His dates are always fun- and he's killer in bed, if you like something a bit rougher."

"Yes, exactly. That's what women in relationships need to do for their sad, single friends." Not that Caroline was particularly sad about being single but she also hadn't gotten any action since that night at the bar with Kyle and that was months ago.

When Nancy suggests Cesare though, Caroline laughs. "Yes, we've met. Remind me to tell you that story at some point." Actually, she should probably bring the perfume with her and see what Nancy thinks of it. "But I will keep that in mind and be sure to at least say hello to him later."

"Oh shush, you're not sad. You're happy to be single- free to mingle, right?" Oh it sounds so mom to her, she has to wince.

"Ah, good. Anything with Cesare is sure to be a story." Honestly, she should probably not be talking about her work life. But talking about it casually like this with Caroline... It was different than talking to Cooper about it. For obvious reasons. Especially when it wasn't framed in the context of her job.

"Other than that, Thomas is a sweetheart and used to do porn." And didn't really get along well with Cooper.

Caroline giggles, more at Nancy's reaction than her words. "I do like to mingle, it's true."

She nods. "I can imagine. This is a pretty good one, spoilers, at one point I almost threw my drink in his face." It had been an awkward moment, though part of her still regrets not doing it. The story would be better if she had.

"I met Thomas awhile ago, actually. He came into Rhapsody and heard me sing. Do you remember my hair from the birthday party? He did that." Maybe she had already met everyone worth knowing.

Nancy's jaw dropped. "Almost?" She would have loved to see that, though she doubted Caroline would have lived to tell the tale had she done so.

"Really! Brilliant- I do, your hair was beautiful. I had no idea he had that sort of skill." She'd maybe have to hire him on one day.

"Almost. But I was glad I didn't, in the end, even if it would be really fun to do that, just once." Maybe she'd have another opportunity at some point. And when that happened, she wouldn't let it go to waste.

"Yeah, apparently he does hair for the shoots sometimes. Though I don't know how fancy the hairstyles get in porn." She shrugs. She's not sure how much she really wants to know about the business anyway.

"I couldn't tell you," she says. Porn was never something she'd been interested in. Though if she was, Thomas was the person she'd go to. As it was, she'd never really given it much thought at all past the cursory glance as a curious teenager. But her life had always worked so she'd never needed it, for better or for worse.

"Oh well, it's always useful to know a good hairdresser. And if said hairdresser happens to be easy on the eyes, all the better."

The string quartet starts playing 'O Holy Night' and Caroline smiles, since it's one of her favourite songs. "Do you have any Christmas plans?"

Christmas plans. Oi, she'd hardly thought about them. "Not really. I'm spending Christmas Morning with my brothers." Fagin was Jewish, but none of them were particularly religious. He'd kept them in Christmas, just as he kept a menorah lit.

"That's always fun. What about you? Going home for the hols?" If Caroline was angling for an invitation, she wasn't going to get one. Few outsiders got to experience the den. Even Cooper hadn't been.

Though that was for his safety, as well as Nancy's own.

"That sounds nice." Caroline wouldn't want to impose upon a family tradition, so she's not expecting an invite. "I haven't figured out what exactly I'm doing yet. I think it's still too soon to go back home." She'd go if she still had family there - but if she still had family, then she wouldn't be in London in the first place.

Nancy nods. "Yeah- generally is. They're absolute loves, the boys." It was Fagin she wasn't excited about seeing.

"Ask Cooper, maybe, he'd want to do something?" He was not invited to her family thing. She'd had this conversation with Dodger, about how as much as she wanted to, bringing him around Fagin was an awful idea. Word could get back to Bill. And that would be a huge sort of mess for everyone involved.

"Oh." Well, that is a surprise that Caroline tries to recover from quickly. "Yes, I'll definitely do that. We'll have a great time, assuming he's interested."

She nods. "I'm not sure what his plans are. I wish I could invite him, but it's all stuff with the boys and I really can't invite him." Few people got invitations to Fagin's. and for Cooper's safety, he wasn't one of them.

Right, Nancy's family situation is complicated, to say the very least. "That's a shame. Well, I'll do my best to keep him entertained in your absence."

"Good, I'm counting on it." She gives her a cheeky wink. "He can be a handful."

Caroline rolls her eyes, though she's smiling. "I'll leave that handful business to you, thank you very much." She thinks for another moment. "Oh, I think this needs to be at your place though, if only for the coffee machine."

Nancy laughs.

"Oh- well, I'm sure he'll be okay with that." The idea that she could give permission, too, was lost on her. It was Cooper's flat, not her flat. She just happened to live there.

"I'll be sure to ask him about that too. And hope he's happy to be invited to a get together at his own house." She's pretty sure she can find a good way to spin it. As long as he's fine with the fact that he can't go with Nancy, at least, which is something that is way out of Caroline's hands.
