Twenty. Gods, Nancy could hardly believe it. She didn't expect to still be here for this day, truth be told. She knew the sort of life she lived, and the sorts of people she associated with. But against all odds, here she was. Twenty-years-old by Fagin's count, and as wonderful as that was...

It was odd. She'd been a teenager for so long, and now she was officially a twenty-something. An adult, for real this time, not like when she'd turned eighteen.

It didn't exactly help that Charley Bates had decided it was a great idea to call her 'old'. She'd hit the back of his head for that, refusing to consider herself old. She was still so young, at least in comparison to those she spent most of her time around, people that were centuries older than her.

This, of course, caused her some angst. She hadn't particularly wanted to celebrate her birthday. It wasn't anything to be glad about. She was, as she realized, three years physically older than Cooper. And that just felt... weird. She knew, mentally, he was far older than she was. And as he always said she was stuck with him until she was old and grey, but...

Would he still love her, then, she wanted to know? How weird would it be, an haggard old woman next to this cute seventeen-year-old kid. A chill ran up her spine when she thought about it, comparing the wretch that Fagin was to her hypothetical-old-woman-self.

If she lived that long.

Still, people want to celebrate with her. Eames, wonderful Eames, had surprised her with tickets to go see a show on the West End, and taken her out to an amazing restaurant. She'd even brought cake over to the boys', knowing a few of them had saved up to get her something. Or, likely, stole it. But she didn't reach out, not really. If you were lucky enough to know it was her birthday, however, she'd happily entertain any and all plans. There was no need to be rude, after all.

"Don't worry about it. I did ask, after all."

She began to apply the eye shadow, blending the various shades of gold together. She was glad gold was such a versatile colour, great for blondes and red heads.

"Besides," she added as she changed to a different brush, "after spilling the whole Stefan story to you, I think I deserve a bit of dirt."

Nancy laughs a bit, trying to keep herself steady for Caroline.

"I suppose." She pauses. "Please don't mention him to Cooper. We haven't had the ex talk, and I don't think he'd handle it well." Even if she hadn't really given Caroline much dirt at all. A name, that he was in jail. And the reason for a few of her scars that looked more like claw marks than bite marks.

"Sure, no problem. I know the girl code." Caroline shifts backwards, to take a look at Nancy's eyes and make sure the make-up looks even from a distance. The shadow on the left eye is a bit higher, so she quickly starts making the right eye match.

"So you moved in without having the ex talk?" Caroline's not judging - at least not much - but it does seem a bit odd.

She purses her lips a little.

"I didn't exactly have a choice- I showed up on his door at about 4 AM with Juliet and everything I could grab stuffed in a backpack." She had been worried she wouldn't have been able to return to her Enfield flat.

"Then when I was pardoned, we decided I should stay. It's nice, living with someone again, sharing their bed. With no dog this time."

"Right, of course. I'd forgotten how exactly things happened." She remembers Nancy telling her about moving in and being excited about it, which she figures is why the reasons hadn't stuck in her mind.

"Okay, open eyes now and I can do liner and mascara."

"It's alright, we weren't really friends then." She shrugs it off.

Nancy opens her eyes, and uses the moment to take another drink as the Plastics dance to Jingle Bell Rock.

"How am I looking so far?"

"Yeah ..." It's weird to think how quickly that changed. Of course, Caroline's always made friends fast but usually those were much less important relationships than her friendship with Nancy had become already.

She looks over her work, now that Nancy's eyes are open. "Very golden. I think this is going to turn out really nice."

Nancy never really felt like she had a lot of friendships. She had people she was close with, but their relationships were always more... complicated than just that. Except Kyle, really. But then that had gotten complicated, too. Not to mention, most of her circle was comprised of men. Men far older than her. It was good to have someone around her own age to hang out with.

"Great, I can't wait to see it."

"I hope you like it. Now hold still for a moment and look up." Caroline leans in with her liquid liner, carefully applying it to Nancy's lower eyelid. For a moment, she thinks of doing make-up for a drama performance, which then makes her think of her last attempt an audition. It hadn't gone so well, what with Stefan decapitating the director. She had never bothered finding out what happened to the production.

"Are there any amateur theatres around here? Preferably ones that only rehearse after dark?"

She does as she's told.

When it seems safe, Nancy wrinkles her nose just slightly in thought. "I'm sure there are- we've got the bloody Globe Theater down the river from us." She'd always wanted to act. But her life had never allowed it, outside of a few moments here and there where dramatics were called for. Fagin always said she was quite the actress.

"But maybe don't start with the RSC, they're not exactly amateurs."

"The Globe! I knew I wasn't finished with the London experience. I can't believe I forgot that one, I am the worst drama major ever."

She finishes up with the eyeliner and moves onto mascara. "Okay, Globe first, amateur theatre second, once my reputation is no longer in shambles."

"There's so much to see, more'n just the Globe. The museums are amazing, the crown jewels, goodness, maybe I should just take you on a late-night tour one night. Oh! The Jack the Ripper tours are supposed to be, while touristy, quite fun."

She laughs again, but tries to stay still. "I'll keep an ear to the ground about theaters."

"I did a fair amount of sightseeing when I first got to the city but there's always more. The Jack the Ripper tour sounds fascinating. I love a good mystery, though it is a bit frustrating to know that one will probably never be solved."

Nancy's eyes were now done, which mean the rest would be finished fairly quickly. A little foundation, a little blush. Caroline then reaches for the lipstick, holding it up near Nancy's face. "Hmmm. I'm not sure if I still like this colour or not."

Nancy nods. "I know, you'd think someone around here would have an idea." Seriously, so many immortals.

"Why not?" She asks, looking at the color.

Caroline's eyes widen. "That's true! I should figure out who was around during that time and grill them for details. Maybe we could finally solve it! That's one way to rehabilitate our image! Unless ... oh, what if Jack was a vampire? Oh my god, Stefan even used to call himself a ripper, when he was on a rampage."

She ponders that for a moment, before registering Nancy's question. "It's a balance thing. If you go really intense around the eyes, then lips should be a bit more muted." She looks through the other lipsticks, then pulls out one of them. "How about this, for now I'll do half one colour, half the other, and then you can pick which you like best."

"Maybe! You'll just have to locate them. Though, I don't think his MO was exactly vampire-y." She shrugs, though she did feel terribly sorry for his victims. it could be her, at some point, she always knew. Harder now, though, with her office.

Nancy considers this. "I never really followed that rule," she explains, but that came with her job.

"Yeah, I suppose so." She doesn't know a lot about the case but she does recall it having more to do with stabbing then biting. "Oh well, I guess that's a project for another day." She had lined up a couple of those by this point and it felt really great to have something to focus her attention on.

Well, Caroline isn't exactly trying to go for Nancy's regular look. "Perfect, the idea is to try out something different! But I think I'll do the half and half approach, just to be sure."

She applies the lipstick and takes one finally look. "Okay. You're done."

[OOC: The make-up looks like this, only the reddish colour is more of a deep gold.]

Well, her work-look, at least. Usually, she preferred natural makeup when she was out with her friends.

"Let me see!" She reaches for a hand mirror, and lets out a small laugh at her image. There's a smile, there, on her dually-painted lips. "Oh, wow. Caroline, you're amazing at this!"

Caroline's also not going for a natural look either.

"I'm so glad you like it. Quick, I need a picture." She reaches over and pulls her phone out. "Smile!"

Exactly- something more fun is always great.

Nancy gives her her best smile, before taking another drink.

"Alright, my turn. What are your thoughts?"

Caroline only grins. "I have no thoughts, do whatever you want." She may regret it but there would only be one photo of evidence and she could live with that.

"You're awful," she promises her, but starts looking through the eyeshadow colors.

"I think we'll have to go with classic, for you. Red lip, cat eyes. Sound about right to you?" She pulled out a black, tan, and a gray shadow.

"Sounds perfect." Caroline had always been a fan of the classic look. She gets settled and closes her eyes.

"Brill." Nancy wastes no time in starting to do her makeup.

"So. Anything exciting to report on your end of the love life thing?" Give her some gossip.

Sorry, Caroline has absolutely no gossip. She would laugh except it would mess up the make-up. "What is this love life of which you speak? It sounds so very exotic and exciting."
