Caroline nods. "Yeah ... I thought that might be about you. But that letter was basically the newspaper equivalent of an Internet troll. I know it's hard, but you shouldn't let it bother you too much."

Nancy forces a smile.

"Yeah- Pretty much everyone I knew thought that was me." Caroline meant well, but it was different when it was you that was written about. "I'll try." It was just a reminder of who she was, despite whom she surrounded herself with.

Nancy's smile isn't super convincing but Caroline feels like she's pressed on more than enough subjects for one night. "So, I think we were talking about hot sex, of the non-biting variety?"

Oh thank god, she could have kissed her.

"Yes- oh gosh, yes. Hot sex. You'd think I'd be getting more of it." She winks, making a joke. A lot of the sex was sub-par. But that's just what happened, she supposed.

"Thank god for Cooper."

Honestly, Caroline wouldn't have expected that much from Cooper, at least not from looking at him. Of course, vampire strength would make up for his general scrawniness. Plus, he should have had time to practice. Regardless, she's happy for Nancy.

And once again, she realizes she's one of the few people not out there having scandalous sex. Though after hooking up with a vampire hunter - or at least anti-vampire soldier - she'd gotten close.

"I clearly must live vicariously through you in this matter."

Most people wouldn't. But he's got the libido of a seventeen-year-old, and she's happy to sleep with him always.

She shakes her head. "It's not even that... I don't know." She gestures vaguely. "Quality over quantity, is all I think I'll say." Not with Cooper, but with men in general. With Cooper, it was always great.

Caroline shrugged. "When you don't have either, there really isn't much of a difference."

"You'll find it, don't worry. You're young and attractive," and older than Nancy, come to think of it, "you'll find the perfect person for you here."

"Perfect person, wow. I'm really not setting my sights that high." She'd had enough of potential soulmates to last her for awhile now.

"Oh, shush, you know what I mean. Someone that isn't going to be a dick about things you can't control." Nancy takes another drink.

"Let me know if you want to order in." Sorry, Caroline, she was not on the menu.

"That sounds like it should be a little more attainable."

She considers food - real food, not blood, since she only drinks from literal blood bags - but isn't that hungry. "I'm fine for now but I'll let you know if that changes."

"I can also make you a plate or whatever, too. Just let me know." She was a good hostess by nature, and though she wasn't hungry, it was only polite to offer food to guests.

"Just conversation is plenty for now."

She takes another drink, then puts her glass down. "So, is there anything else I should know about the vampire activity here? Things like having parties in order to lure in victims?" She's not sure how much Nancy knows about the Nest's inner workings but a human perspective might be what she needs here.

"Alright. Let me know if you change your mind."

She relaxes back into the couch. "Again, I think Cooper's the one to talk to about that. There, ah- was a party like that, last year." It was where she'd met Kyle. "So it's not unheard of."

"Yeah, you uh ... mentioned that before." It explained why Kyle hated vampires so much, though she had a feeling there was more to it than one party. "And I know, Cooper is going to have all the inside information. But I'm curious about non-vampire opinions too."

She shrugs. "I wish people would just ask. There are plenty of people willing to be food if you ask. My business has been down, since Harris, at least with vampires. So... I guess... There are a lot of really good vampires. And there are a lot of really good people. I know I'm an outsider, but... I think Cooper likes to keep me in the dark as much as he can." They were trying to be honest. But that didn't mean she expected him to tell her everything. Just not lie.

"I wish I had something to tell you, I really do."

"Even if you think you don't know much, it's probably stuff that I don't know at all. Especially since I wasn't around before Raymond took over."

Every little bit helped, though Caroline admits to herself that she was hoping Nancy might have a bit more information. But she's met enough people to ask around, at this point. She really does need to sit down with Cooper sometime though.

She had a good point. "Milicent came before him. She'd been the Duchess for so long... Apparently someone finally got fed up with her, after she declared Blood Fest." She shook her head. "There were three days without rules. It got pretty ugly. But no one knew just how ugly, I suppose."

She takes another long drink.

Three days without rules. She could imagine how bad that had gone. "How did she ever think that was a good idea?"

Nancy rolled her eyes. "Hell if I know. She was encouraging skinning werewolves then, too. But this... This just got worse with Harris."

"I just don't understand. All the vampires back home were so good at not doing this sort of thing, because it drew too much attention. Why is it so different here? Just because it's a big city?"

She's sure Nancy won't have the answers - she's not really sure anyone will. But it just doesn't make sense. Skinning werewolves, god. "It's not like we never had run ins with other species or anything like that and sure, sometimes people ended up dead but it wasn't something we just did for fun."

Nancy sighs. "Maybe. I wish I could tell you. I've only ever lived in London, and only recently started getting involved in all of this." part of her wished she'd never entered into the political realm.

Caroline sighs too. "I never thought that life in Mystic Falls would seem simple, small town or not. But I guess that's just the way it is here. Also, from what I've heard, New Orleans is pretty complicated too. It's one of the reasons I didn't consider just moving there."

The other reason was, of course, Klaus.

Nancy nods. "I don't know what the supernatural population of Mystic Falls is- but I imagine it's a whole lot larger in London. So skirmishes become wars. We live longer, so grudges get held for centuries. It's... a mess, I guess." But when she looked at it that way, it made sense.

"Really? I've never thought I'd live anywhere but London." Travel, maybe. But this city was her home.

"It's definitely much smaller. Plus, it's most vampires in the area, with a few werewolves and witches. No other groups, at least not that I know of. And no real organized factions either. As I sort of mentioned before, I used to date the werewolf."

She pauses for a moment, thinking. "I guess I always planned to leave Mystic Falls eventually. Go out and see the world. But home is always going to be home."
