MABON } 22nd September

The times, they are a'changing. But in this case, it's the same way they change every year. The 22nd of September is the Autumn Equinox, and aside from it being a great time for witches to get up to all sorts of shady shit with fae, it's time for the seasonal change in power between the two Courts. And in typical Fae fashion, this event is to be marked with a hugely ostentatious party.

They've taken over Crystal Palace Park for a party that'll be going near on 24 hours. The trees are lit with twinkling lights, and many fae have chosen to forgo their glamours — some are indescribably beautiful, others monstrous, and quite a few... Well, they look more or less human, but obviously it doesn't bother them and it shouldn't bother you either! There is dancing, flirting, and laughter. And the drinks and food are free flowing. Slipping between realms is also extremely easy, but there's been strict instruction not to steal any mortals tonight or there'll be hell to pay.

This also marks the first official appearance of Eames as the Lord of Autumn, (it's not something he could readily get out of, you see,) so expect plenty of gossip about how odd it is he seems to shy away from his title, his obsession with mortals, and how very un-Fae it is of him to cancel the hunt.

The RULES are as follows:

  • All vampires must have a fae chaperone. The open invite does extend to vampires, but we can't just have them walking around doing whatever they like, can we?

  • In addition, drinking blood is strictly forbidden. Consensual or not, any vampire found drinking blood within a half mile radius of the park will be killed. It's just not good manners.

  • Violence is also forbidden. It's just not fun for everyone. If you really need to have it out with someone, challenge them to a duel. The children's playground has been made into a duelling area with guards to make sure it all goes smoothly. There are weapons available and they're all very medieval.
That's about it, they aren't a very rule-heavy bunch and honestly just want to have a fun night.

The park...? It takes Lancelot a second to realise Daryl's mistake, then his eyebrows shoot up in surprise.

"Oh! No, no -- of course I do. I meant... the party? This type of party, it isn't really... well, my sort of thing. Especially the glitter. I'm more of a... night in sort of person."

Which probably makes him sound horrifically boring. He winces at that, a touch apologetic.

Then why was he... oh, wait. Daryl snorted about to ask if Faolan dragged him before remembering he'd said that they hadn't traveled together. So no, that wouldn't be the reason he was there. More confused, he asked, "Then why'd you come?"

Daryl knew why he did when things like this weren't his normal scene. But hell, it had alcohol. He could make them his scene.

He shrugs, glances around the place.

"Free food," he says first, then hedges a moment before adding. "Caution too, really. This is a very public party. With all the tensions I was worried it might go off the rails, so I suppose I thought I should keep an eye on it."

Which means, yes, he came to a party essentially for work-related reasons rather than to have fun. Which is a sad state of affairs indeed.

"Pretty sure the point of fae parties are to go off the rails."

But good to know Lance was such a stick in the mud. Probably hadn't touched the alcohol. One of the goody-goodies his family would have made fun of and tried to get into trouble. A slightly sobering thought that felt like it came out of no where. So Daryl took another drink to fix that sober part.

"But probably a good idea," he went on to admit. "Ain't like they're letting some of us leave. Bound to get someone in trouble."

"My thoughts too," Lancelot agrees, and he glances around a little uncomfortably. "Fae make things fun for themselves by getting everyone in trouble. It's all very well for them when they can just open a door and leave everyone else to clean up the mess. Do you --" He hesitates, winces slightly before gesturing at the drink Daryl is downing. "Just be careful with that. They've drugged drinks before, I have a little more experience with the fallout than I'd like."

Daryl pulled the bottle away from him and narrowed his gaze at it, trying to figure out if it was likely to be drugged or not. He was still pretty decently aware of his surroundings, though, and not running off to bathe in glitter. This was probably fine.

"If they did, I ain't feelin' it."

"Maybe not yet," Lancelot hedges, "but just... be careful. The last time someone I knew drunk a lot of something laced by a fairy they kept turning up in my bedroom at midnight. Don't say I didn't warn you. Their idea of fun can be a little vicious."

It might be safe, but Lancelot doesn't trust the fae as far as he can throw them.

"Yeah, sure," he lifted the bottle in salute. "But until the asshole keepin' me here lets me leave, this is the best time I'm likely to get."
