The Other Mayor of London

The OTHER MAYOR OF LONDON invites you to a night to remember...

Hosted at The Angelo in the heart of Islington (courtesy of Cesare Borgia), Raymond Harris invites you all to join him on the night of Saturday, 6th August to celebrate his self-proclaimed ascension as the Other Mayor of London. His aims are threefold: to stake his claim as the most powerful supernatural being in the city, to persuade other interested factions to ally with him, and to intimidate his enemies with a show of extravagance. All members of the Islington Nest are expected to work hard tonight to achieve these goals.

The party officially begins at 20:39 when the sun sets and ends at 05:34 when the sun rises. Of course, there's no guarantee that everyone will make it until dawn...

Rules of entry
• This is a black tie event. Anyone who fails to wear the appropriate attire will be denied entry.
• No stakes or other vampire-killing weapons. That's just rude.
• No more than five werewolves and shapeshifters will be admitted in total. Raymond wants them to witness his power, but not to spoil his party. They will be closely watched and likely mocked by the surrounding vampires.

Raymond is guarded by his vampire henchmen at all times. Any perceived threat will be dealt with swiftly and mercilessly.

Places to go
Once you're admitted to the hotel, you'll walk into the lobby, where you're free to mingle with the other guests. It's here that you're likely to first spot the party's human contingent: a collection of young and beautiful men and women whose sole purpose is to provide a live food source for the vampires. Dressed in uniform black suits and cocktail dresses, they will offer up their wrists and/or necks to anyone who wants them.

From there, you can head over to the bar for a more relaxed and cordial atmosphere. Drinks are free until midnight; after that you'll have to pay. The bar does not serve blood; it's expected that vampire guests will drink directly from their nearest human.

If you're looking for something a little more substantial, try the tea room where you'll be served tea, coffee or red wine, and a selection of cherry tomato canapes, strawberries and scones with jam and clotted cream.

The main action, however, takes place in the ballroom. Red mood lighting continues the general theme and live music will be playing all night. Professional dancers provide entertainment in the early evening, but it won't be long before the ballroom is crowded with party-goers revelling in the fun, free and wild atmosphere. This is where you may find Raymond, the benevolent host watching over his guests. Drink and be merry. He wants everyone to have a good time.

(You can check the OOC plotting thread for more info and to ask any questions about this event. Enjoy!)

Cesare rolls his eyes. It's not that simple. It never is. He doesn't appreciate Eames playing dumb either. Even Cesare has to admit that the fae is smarter than that. Both of them are no fools and it's a shame that Eames has to act like one.

If Eames wants to demand Cesare be the one to ask the questions though, then that's fine. At least someone here has the balls to put everything out on the table, even if Eames doesn't.

"Are you representing yourself or your faction tonight?" Or, in other words, are you here for business or pleasure.

It's not a matter of balls, not for Eames at least; he finds Cesare repulsive, and the stink of fresh blood on his breath only makes it moreso. The man asked for him, and since it's his establishment Eames will do the respect of speaking to him, but that's the entirety of the respect he intends to show. Cesare has nothing and has done nothing to earn it.

But seeing as he asked instead of trying to pretend he's charming enough to work what he wants to know out of Eames over a conversation, he might as well answer honestly.

"I'm here on behalf of my Court," he answers, a careful choice of words. Close to representing, but not the same thing. An important distinction in Eames' mind. "Harris extended an invitation, I'm here to see what he wants."

Ok. That's something. An interesting something. Cesare nods, acknowledging Eames' cooperation, no matter how small. That's progress. If the two of them want to talk like adults then they can do that. Cesare can respect that. He doesn't give Eames any more than that, though, deliberately resisting the urge to lean in a little. After all, it could give Eames a bit of an upper hand if he knew that Cesare was particularly interested in what the fae had to say.

"And what do you want?" Cesare asks, leaning back into his chair instead. Come on, Eames. Lay it all out. Cesare has had enough equivocation and glib answers for one day. At least give Cesare enough effort to lie to him.

"An alliance? A war? Party tips?" Ok, so maybe it's Cesare's turn to be a bit glib. Only temporarily though, of course.

"Is that what you want?" Eames asks in return. He's never cared to find out the man's intentions beyond showboating, but he might as well inquire. Could be illuminating. "A war?" He adds by point of clarification, just in case there's some comment about not needing party tips rolling around in that head of his.

Cesare shrugs calmly.

"I'm not afraid of one."

Cesare has witnessed many wars and even lead a few of them. He is not afraid of a bit of battle, though he doubts that this would be one of swords and cannon. If there's a war now, it will be far more subtle and secretive.

"If there's a need then I won't avoid it."

"That's not what I asked."

Eames raises his eyebrows pointedly; now who's dancing around the topic? He won't push it if Cesare doesn't want to answer, because frankly he doesn't care enough, but if he's gonna get on Eames' case about refusing to answer the questions he's been asked, then Eames can do the same.
