Well, at least he wouldn't have to worry about hiding any details about who or what he was. He took a sip of wine, mulling over this new turn of events. He could either be sour and sulk about this information or he could set it aside for right now and enjoy the day with Nancy. He didn't want to spoil anything. So he was going to be a mature, responsible adult about this and try to accept the fact that his girlfriend was going to be living with another man.

"Alright. I'll be nice." Well, as close to nice as Cooper was bound to come with someone he felt threatened by. He set down his wine and slipped his hands around Nancy's waist, pulling her close to him. "But if he's better-lookin' than I am, all bets are off." He was only half-joking.

He tries to take comfort in Nancy's words. She's never lied to him intentionally, and if she says she's faithful, than he'll take her word for it. It's this mysterious Kyle that Cooper has is concerns over. Nancy was a beautiful girl and lord only knows what someone might think of living with her, seeing her in the morning in her pajamas or when she's just stepped out of the shower in nothing but a towel...well, at least now his train of thought had gone somewhere else.

He rubs out the spot on his cheek and picks his wine back up. "You be careful out there right now. It won't matter where you're staying if the wrong vamp gets a hold of you." He now has a personal stake in Harris' ridiculous edict that the vampires could feed off of whoever they wanted. Nancy's job has always been a risky one, but now it's doubly so.

It's an uncomfortably familiar mannerism to see, but Eames brushes it aside and waves off the protest and such with a dismissive hand. Giving tokens is practically second nature to him, when someone's been particularly helpful or useful.

"Who's Cooper?" He asks instead, not actually entirely interested in the answer, and definitely not as much as this cat who's just rolled over and clearly needs some belly rubs, but it's polite to ask.

That gets a noncommittal noise in response from Eames. It's not that he doesn't care he just... Doesn't actually care. It's probably not the response she's looking for, but he already knows she has terrible taste in friends — present company, for example — so unless the guy's a liability? Whatever.

Sorry Nancy, "oh" is pretty much the sum total of his thoughts on the matter.

He winces when she jokes about him getting high off fae blood. Still, she's long-since forgiven him for that, so he'll let pass by. It's just water under the bridge now. He'll never be quite that foolish ever again.

"This is true. There's a few advantages t'being high up in the nest." If he had to throw his weight around to make sure Nancy stayed safe, then he would do so gladly. Lord only knew he didn't use his position often enough as it was.

Lancelot is in a difficult situation.

Gilbert Norrell had very obvious enemies, very obvious groups that disliked him, and Lancelot doesn't want to stereotype or paint people with a broad brush of assumption but those people are the most likely suspects.

Both the Fae and Circle Midnight had every reason to dislike Gilbert Norrell and want him gone. The problem was, he'd already fallen from grace. Gilbert Norrell had been losing power.

Why still attack him?

It didn't quite add up.

The investigation is slow going and cautious. Nobody wants to point a finger of blame in the wrong direction and stir things up, especially not the Night Council. It could be a political nightmare if they stepped wrong. But the fact of the matter was, the fae at least were still suspects.

As was someone else.

Nancy isn't the easiest person to find, because Lancelot has no idea where she lives. He does, however, know what she does for a living -- and that makes narrowing it down a little easier. Not that he suspects she'll appreciate being interrupted at work, but he can't help that.

He's dressed down for the night, trying not to stand out -- all faded jeans and a short sleeved shirt in the summer heat. It's luck as much as anything that he finally tracked her down, because somehow he doesn't expect she'd agree to meet him willingly if he'd tried.

It would be suspicious. It should be.

Lancelot offers her a smile and tilts his head questioningly, hoping to silently encourage her over and that she won't bolt.

He wrinkles his nose at that, shrugs slightly.

"It's been a busy month. Lily's hiding in the kitchen. She has a lot of fur and it's very hot at the moment. Kitchen tiles are cool. I might take her for a trim if the heat keeps up."

Which is true enough, although he isn't entirely sure how well she'll take to that. Possibly about as well as she takes to having a bath. He shoves one hand into his pocket and gestures vaguely over his shoulder with the other, lofting an eyebrow questioningly.

"Do you have five minutes?"

Or ten, depending.

"Always."

Oh, he was supposed to ask, wasn't he. Eames looks down at Juliet, but the cat has nothing to offer to this situation and he sighs, "so, this Cooper. Who is he?"

"Earl of Holloway." Eames leans forward to put his glass down for fear of breaking it and nods his head slowly. It's like she's gone and made one of the worst decisions humanly possible.

"That's..." Dumb? Foolish? Going to end badly? He frowns, looking for the best thing to say. "I see."

"Dating people isn't the issue." As much as he'd question if it's wise with her work, if they can handle it then great.

This, on the other hand? He shakes his head.

"Oh, of course he's kind." And it takes a lot for him not to wrinkle his nose in distaste at the word. If that's all that mattered then there'd probably be significantly less trouble around. "He's also hardwired to see you as food before he sees a person."

There's so, so much more he wants to say, but he can already see there's no point. It's disappointing — he'd thought she was smarter than this — but she's young and she's human. Pretty much the two worst traits a person can have when it comes to decision making.

"Well I'd question if it's smart to persue a relationship with a client, but I guess if he's so kind then it doesn't matter."
