A. Kensington, Early July.
[If he's being honest, Sirius isn't sure how he's going to repay Annie and her grandmother for the hiding place. It's been nice to be able to lay low and stay out of sight for a few days, not having to worry if he's smelling vampires as he walks down the street or wonder if they know what he is. But, after a few days, Sirius finds he starts to feel restless. He doesn't like being cooped up in a house all day, even if it the smarter thing to do. Even though the house is hardly a prison, it starts to feel that way and Sirius finds he needs to get outside.
Maybe just a walk around the block, as a dog. A loveable stray going for a sniff in a back lane isn't anything out of the ordinary, is it? Safety be damned, he needs this. He won't be gone long, he justifies to himself. Just enough to stretch his legs and get some fresh air.
Needless to say, there's a large black dog wandering around the neighbourhood now. Mostly he's keeping his attention to fire hydrants and trees, while resisting the urge to chase some squirrels or birds.]
B. [Hillingdon, Mid-July]
[Sirius is once again at the job board, surreptitiously checking to see if his wanted poster has made it's way back on to the board, but also to see if there's any jobs available. He hasn't been doing too many bounties, since he's not strictly a hunter, but there's often a small one around that helps to keep the money coming in. And he likes having money, it's been very helpful. It's unfortunate that most of them have to do with vampires these days, which is something he'd rather not deal with.
Eventually he grows bored of this and makes his way into the kitchen, looking for something to do or someone to talk with, before settling on seeing if there's anything to eat about. Or possibly cause trouble for the next person to open that cupboard.]
C. [Wildcard]
[Have another idea or would like something specific? Go ahead or let me know.]

He also figured he could ask around. How many people called Kyle hung around here, anyway?
no subject
Seeing as they both would have motive and access to the cages.

Sirius thinks for a moment.
"You have ideas about who did it? That's a place to start."

And the only connection Roddy had to the teacher was he went to that school. And, of course, that teacher was the one that busted him for fighting. But then, he wasn't the only one who got busted for fighting, was he? Sure, the other kids got a lighter punishment due to the fact that Roddy was doing surprisingly well in the fight and they convinced the teacher that he'd attacked first, but they seemed like the kind of stuck up assholes that would be pissed no matter what punishment they got.
"When I got kicked out of that school, it was because I got in a fight with these other boys. The teacher that was killed was the one who busted up the fight. They didn't seem too happy about it at the time. I mean, I'm just guessing here, but I might want to check them out?"

"I could try looking into it if you don't want to risk being connected to the investigation. Although, you also have ways around that if I recall."
no subject
Because Roddy certainly wasn't going to be nosing around in his human form when they already suspected him of murder. He didn't want them thinking he was trying to hide the evidence, or plant new evidence. Sirius being there, whether in dog or human form, would make things a heck of a lot easier, though, and he'd rather not investigate a possible murderer alone.
"And if nothing else, I'm pretty easy to smuggle around in my other form. You said yourself a rat can be good at sneaking."
no subject
He was familiar with enough back alleys and side roads now that he knew how to lose people if necessary. And he was pretty fast, whether it was two or four legs.
"When do you want to do this?"
no subject
Because Roddy would be fine with going right then, but it might be best to wait until they both had a little time to think about how they were going to do things.
no subject
"I'd say early evening or early morning. That way we'd still have light and maybe not look as suspicious. Of course, it also depends what form we're taking."
A stray sniffing around probably looks less concerning than some scruffy looking guy poking about.
no subject
"I guess it depends on where we want to check first. If we go to the crime scene, we probably should both be in animal form, since people sniffing around there will draw attention. If we want to go to the guy's house, though...I guess it depends what we want to check there, too. If he left evidence in his car, one of us would have to be in human form to get in, but I can probably get into his house as a rat, no problem. If we got in while they were gone, you could hang out as a dog and start barking if anyone comes home."
So the real question was, where did they think the evidence would be?
no subject
In some ways, it would help if they had a third. Someone who could scout ahead and let them know what things looked like without drawing too much attention to themselves.
"Outside of this initial crime, have there been any other moves against you? That might tell us how thorough our target is."
no subject
Sure, he didn't know the main guy in that group of friends did it, but at least then they could confirm or eliminate him as a suspect. Besides, Roddy couldn't think of anyone else who would want to.
"We should go by there early in the morning. If we see his car, we check that out. If no one's home, we could try looking around inside."
After all, it seemed pretty risky trying to get into the guy's house if he was home. Then again, as a rat...well, on one hand, he could sneak around. On the other, it would be very dangerous if he was caught.
no subject
"I can always stand lookout, depending on how things go. Where does this guy live?"
no subject
no subject
"I know where that is, so I can meet you somewhere nearby and we can head out to find the place."
no subject
Since he figured it would be easier to get there in human form. Also, that would avoid putting Sirius in the awkward position of attempting to communicate with random rats until he found the right one.
no subject
It does draw some, being that he is a large black dog, but it's certainly better than someone recognizing him.
Want me to start a thread for them?
Especially since in normal circumstances, there was no such thing as a rat. They'd be imagining all the others that normally would come with a rat sighting. A teenager that's sitting outside, drinking coffee...well, that's far more acceptable.
"And just so I can keep an eye out, what do you look like as a dog?"
That would be great, thanks :)
See if he can find a weak link to give him a decent bite to eat. It's not something he's proud of, but whatever works.
"When I show up, that's when you should head out. So that things don't look too convenient."
