A. Kensington, Early July.
[If he's being honest, Sirius isn't sure how he's going to repay Annie and her grandmother for the hiding place. It's been nice to be able to lay low and stay out of sight for a few days, not having to worry if he's smelling vampires as he walks down the street or wonder if they know what he is. But, after a few days, Sirius finds he starts to feel restless. He doesn't like being cooped up in a house all day, even if it the smarter thing to do. Even though the house is hardly a prison, it starts to feel that way and Sirius finds he needs to get outside.
Maybe just a walk around the block, as a dog. A loveable stray going for a sniff in a back lane isn't anything out of the ordinary, is it? Safety be damned, he needs this. He won't be gone long, he justifies to himself. Just enough to stretch his legs and get some fresh air.
Needless to say, there's a large black dog wandering around the neighbourhood now. Mostly he's keeping his attention to fire hydrants and trees, while resisting the urge to chase some squirrels or birds.]
B. [Hillingdon, Mid-July]
[Sirius is once again at the job board, surreptitiously checking to see if his wanted poster has made it's way back on to the board, but also to see if there's any jobs available. He hasn't been doing too many bounties, since he's not strictly a hunter, but there's often a small one around that helps to keep the money coming in. And he likes having money, it's been very helpful. It's unfortunate that most of them have to do with vampires these days, which is something he'd rather not deal with.
Eventually he grows bored of this and makes his way into the kitchen, looking for something to do or someone to talk with, before settling on seeing if there's anything to eat about. Or possibly cause trouble for the next person to open that cupboard.]
C. [Wildcard]
[Have another idea or would like something specific? Go ahead or let me know.]

And so he starts looking for a good place to do that, like an alley.]

Not without Finnick.] Is it much further? [She asks out-loud, and then remembers that she's still talking to a dog. Maybe she is as crazy as people think she is.]

Of course, the problem with being Sirius Black is that the universe does appreciate a good joke at his expense. So instead of finding home free when he rounds a corner, Sirius instead finds the scent of blood flooding his nose and his hackles raised.
He had to run into a vampire right now.]

Most people would bolt, but she knew if she did that, she'd be a target. She was already a target as it was. But she'd made up her mind already to get this dog home safe.
Anxiously, she reached out a hand to touch the dog's back.]
Let's turn around, buddy.

Until, of course, he does.]

He looks at them, and Annie smiles anxiously.]
Sorry. Uhm. We'll just. Leave you...?
[But the vampire starts to advance slowly on the girl and the dog.]

Annie's hand goes up to her silver necklace, her silver bracelets. What she doesn't have, though is any other sort of weapon. Shit.
The vampire keeps walking towards them, speaking in a low voice: no, I don't think so. He only sees a girl and her dog. The best chance they had was to run, but even then he can catch up to them immediately.] We don't want any trouble, [she tries.] My dog isn't a nice dog. [No, he was a great dog]

Sizing him up, Sirius figured he could probably take him. But how to communicate that?]

The vampire spoke with a tight smile. Hello, doggie. like he wasn't afraid at all.
Annie, meanwhile, glanced around the alley, looking for something she could use as a weapon.]
Just, ah- let us leave-? We won't tell anyone- anyone what we saw. I mean- ah, we didn't even see anything. No one would ah believe us...?
no subject
The Vampire didn't look as though he believed Annie or that he was going to let them leave. It was a bit of a standoff.
At least until Sirius launched himself at the vampire.]

pup- run!
[like the dog could make much sense of it. She hated to leave him, but the other option was become a snack. The dog seemed to have the fight in hand. She ran]

Hopefully Annie's had enough of a head start to get away. He heads off in a different direction just to be safe, taking a slightly longer route back to Annie's Grandma's just in case the vampire chooses to follow him. Hopefully, he'll just decide that neither of them are worth it.]

Annie's out of breath by the time she makes it to her grandmother's, slamming the door behind her and locking it. In a few hours, she'd go back and look for the dog, she decided. Make sure he was okay, or give him a proper burial if need-be. He was a brave dog, he deserved that.]

He makes his way into the backyard about ten minutes later.
A locked door is going to make this a lot more difficult than it needs to be. Especially without opposable thumbs.]

Swearing under her breath, she makes for the back-door.]

But- through the frosted glass, she could tell it wasn't a vampire. Creeping closer, she was able to make out the figure. Was it-
she opened the door.] Pup? Is- how did you get here?
no subject
And you'd believe this face, wouldn't you?]

[Poor guy. She'll have to call the police later, to see if anyone's missing him. But for now, she can get him something to eat.]
