Alex hasn't seen anyone except the landlady for days. She's done about a thousand push-ups for lack of anything better to do. By the time Natasha shows up, loneliness, boredom, and cabin fever have set in, and the vampire's arrival is like a breath of fresh air.

Not that Alex is happy to see a vampire. Not that she wants to hang out with a vampire.

Except that she kind of is and she kind of does. But she's not going to admit that ever.
