Semi-open: May 05

Who: Lancelot and friends!
What: It's a birthday party! With both regular people and supernatural types. What could go wrong?
When: May 05
Where: Lancelot's flat & garden, Richmond!
Warnings: Gratuitous doggy! Probably a punch up later. Possibly some drunk kissing.

Lancelot's garden is not exactly an acre-large tented paradise.

He's not made of money.

It's big enough to just about fit the people invited across the patio and grass, with Lily variously herding them and rolling around, and he's flitting between them and the kitchen and living room and generally doing his best to butterfly around all of them making sure they're happy. The garden is relatively tidy, as tidy and well kept as a garden that suffers an enthusiastic dog can be. The hedges are neatly trimmed, the tree in one corner healthy and big enough to throw a little shade, and the one flowerbed border seems to mostly have some roses that are yet to fully bloom.

For those who he's only known since the incident last year he's given them a warning: not everyone who will be there is aware of the supernatural side of things, so try not to blurt it to people you don't know.

Despite it being his own birthday Lancelot is, of course, playing host. There's a table set up outside with finger food, salads, drinks and all sorts -- and food strategically inside for those who can't be out in the sun too. He appears to still be checking on more in the oven every so often too, but Lancelot does like to cook -- and he seems quite focused on making sure everyone has something they could eat.

Some of the drinks are alcoholic. The punch isn't that strong, but he has a few other drinks along the side for people who want them and some bottles of beer in an ice bucket. If someone decides to do a little mixing of course then it might wind up stronger.

His sound system is playing the soothing strains of Dire Straits through the place and all in all, for now at least things are going smoothly. So long as nobody says the wrong thing to the wrong person, it will probably be a nice evening. With the mixture of factions present alongside those who have no idea what a faction is, of course... that may be difficult.

"You've got a bit more color in your cheeks this time," Elizabeth comments with a bright smile as she sidles up to Faolan with a cup of punch between her hands. She's taken note of the fact that he looks a little stiff and awkward, and she sympathizes. The fact that she knows close to nobody at this party is making her extremely nervous. She can't monopolize Lancelot's time, obviously, and Lily is busy scavenging, so she's defaulting to the only other person she's had some interaction with.

"It's a nice party!"

Look at her and her small talk.

Faolan glances up at her and struggles to place her, not only because he's been drinking here at this party but because the last time he'd run into her, he'd been drinking then as well. When the face finally clicks, something passes over his face -- a look of recognition, of shame, of embarrassment, and more besides.

"I feel that I should point out," he says, fiddling with the beer in his own hands, "that whatever you may think about my drinking habits, they're not as bad as that." She just keeps running into him at inopportune moments, really!

Elizabeth stares at him while he struggles, looking nervous at points that he actually doesn't remember her. Which would make this whole interaction extremely awkward. But apparently he does remember, eventually, and Elizabeth smiles in relief.

...not because Faolan seems to have a drinking problem.

"I... wasn't thinking anything about your drinking habits." At least, not until he brought them up...

Sure she wasn't thinking of his drinking problems. Faolan doesn't really believe that for a second, but he runs with it anyway.

He wonders whether she knows who he is. Whether she's one of the guests that's on the inside of the underground community or not. There's not really any way to just ask and find out though, not without risking sounding like a lunatic. So he tries the safer route instead.

"You...know Lancelot?" he asks. (Safer, that doesn't mean less awkward.)

"I didn't just crash a man's birthday party to play with his dog, if that's what you're asking," she says with an amused laugh. "Yes, he helped me out of an awkward situation at a playground. It was lucky he was on duty at the time."

Elizabeth is fairly sure she recognizes him from her stints at the Night Council during the Maiden selection, but she's comfortable dropping hints if he hasn't seen her around.

That cracks something of a smile from Faolan. If Lancelot weren't the man he is then Faolan would have accused half the people there of perhaps only coming for Lily, considering the amount of attention she's been receiving. But they're both pretty deserving of it all, all things considered.

"That sounds rather like him," he replies. "He does seem to have an almost uncanny ability to be there when you need someone." He glances back at her, realizing he's probably saying too much so he backtracks slightly. "He's, ehm. Done much of the same for me, really. Though I suppose working together really sets us up for situations like that."
