knightscode: Oh I made that joke already (♠52)

Semi-open: May 05

Who: Lancelot and friends!
What: It's a birthday party! With both regular people and supernatural types. What could go wrong?
When: May 05
Where: Lancelot's flat & garden, Richmond!
Warnings: Gratuitous doggy! Probably a punch up later. Possibly some drunk kissing.

Lancelot's garden is not exactly an acre-large tented paradise.

He's not made of money.

It's big enough to just about fit the people invited across the patio and grass, with Lily variously herding them and rolling around, and he's flitting between them and the kitchen and living room and generally doing his best to butterfly around all of them making sure they're happy. The garden is relatively tidy, as tidy and well kept as a garden that suffers an enthusiastic dog can be. The hedges are neatly trimmed, the tree in one corner healthy and big enough to throw a little shade, and the one flowerbed border seems to mostly have some roses that are yet to fully bloom.

For those who he's only known since the incident last year he's given them a warning: not everyone who will be there is aware of the supernatural side of things, so try not to blurt it to people you don't know.

Despite it being his own birthday Lancelot is, of course, playing host. There's a table set up outside with finger food, salads, drinks and all sorts -- and food strategically inside for those who can't be out in the sun too. He appears to still be checking on more in the oven every so often too, but Lancelot does like to cook -- and he seems quite focused on making sure everyone has something they could eat.

Some of the drinks are alcoholic. The punch isn't that strong, but he has a few other drinks along the side for people who want them and some bottles of beer in an ice bucket. If someone decides to do a little mixing of course then it might wind up stronger.

His sound system is playing the soothing strains of Dire Straits through the place and all in all, for now at least things are going smoothly. So long as nobody says the wrong thing to the wrong person, it will probably be a nice evening. With the mixture of factions present alongside those who have no idea what a faction is, of course... that may be difficult.

Faolan stands steady for a long moment, though Lancelot giving him that look, telling him to step down. Faolan doesn't really have it in him to stay his ground against the other man. And he doesn't really have any reason for it.

He looks up at Lancelot, meeting his gaze for a long moment, willing him to understand why before he takes a step back as directed. Taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly. He doesn't apologize. He is sorry for the commotion, but he's still too wound up to admit to as much. Instead all he says is, "I'll be in the garden. If you need me." Taking five. Make sure you don't let her follow, he implies. Though he doesn't make a move to leave. Not just yet.

"there's more to it, than that," Nancy snaps, because chill isn't in her vocabulary. not when her friends have been threatened.

But he wants them to back off, fine. Nancy can see when she isn't wanted anymore, even drunk. "I'll go- I can tell when I'm not wanted." If Lance was taking Faolan's side, she doesn't want to be at his party now. Nancy doesn't turn, though. He's the bigger threat, though, and should back off first.

Faolan clicks his tongue in response to Nancy's stubbornness, to her protest -- of course she would be difficult, of course she would respond like that. But Lancelot's response itself is enough to quell any further reaction from himself, and he takes another step back. Too much alcohol in his system to fully process the scene in front of him, but not too drunk that he doesn't feel somewhat guilty for it after the fact.

"It wasn't my fault," he says at last, before he turns on his heel and heads out the door to the garden, removing himself from the scene as the source of Nancy's troubles. Idly ruffling his fingers over Lily's ears as he goes, gently reassuring the slightly confused look she had acquired in the face of all of this commotion.

You get a drunk, angry, 19-year-old who has no idea how to properly deal with anger and this is what happens. It isn't an excuse, but it does provide insight.

"Oh, fuck off," she tells Faolan's retreating back. Then she turns to Lance. "no. I want to leave." Because she is a bitter girl, and is stubborn as they come. "It's not you I don't believe. I've got no reason to trust him- your friend can go fuck himself."

She didn't want to be at a party where people were giving her odd looks, or the host wasn't able to support her beliefs. Not when she was alone- she spent too much time alone as it was.

"No." She says shortly, and takes a small step away as he came closer. "I'll walk." It's a ways to Enfield. But she's not in a hurry. No one to get home for.
