"No!" She says, because it's true, but she's working her way there. "It's good gin, and it's good pizza, you." She points at him, because that makes her point about the pizza. Or maybe it proves to Eames that she's maybe a little drunk.

She hadn't been not drinking before he'd showed up, anyway.

Well she's definitely tipsy, and Eames shakes his head, pretending to be totally disappointed in this abysmal lack of sobriety.

"Well. Consider me told."

Nancy responds with wrinkling her nose at him. It's kind of adorable.

"Shush, you. I like pizza."

"So I can see." Eames notes the adorable expression, but he's not swayed by it. He does, however, shrug to indicate he'll let it go. If He ends up holding her hair while she throws up all this pizza and expensive gin though, he won't be pleased.

She's not going to throw up pizza and expensive gin, gosh. This isn't her first time at the pizza-and-expensive-gin rodeo.

Well, usually it was shit gin.

"Seriously, though. Have you ever had anything as good as pizza?" He was old. He was fae. He should have had some damn good food in his life.

He gives that a thoughtful hum; Eames loves food, and he's eaten a lot of it in his time. (He's also not nearly as enthused about pizza as Nancy seems to be, but that's neither here nor there.)

"Depends on your taste, but Arabian food was..." His sigh is a little wistful — Eames is a man of few regrets, but never getting one of those recipes is certainly up there, "there's not much like it these days."

"Oh I can only imagine." She leans back with her pizza. "What was your favorite time to live, if you don't mind me asking. I'm always curious about that sort of thing." But she never asked, certainly not her vampire clients. But Eames was... He was something else.

Whatever he was to her now.

"I don't know that I have a favourite," Eames says with an airy gesture and another sigh, leaning back against the sofa as he thinks it over. He's very much about the present, as much out of pragmatism as to enjoy his life to the fullest. Why even be immortal if you're still stuck in some long-gone era?

"When you've lived a while, a lot of people get stuck in an era. Some time and place that you foolishly think is the pinnacle of creation." He wrinkles his nose and shakes his head in distaste for the idea, "seems wasteful of a perfectly good life to me. Sure, Elizabethan architecture was gorgeous, but they also believed bathing let the devil in."

In hindsight, it's amazing he could stomach spending any of his youth in England at all.

Nancy exhales. "Wow, that's- that's really amazing, though. To have lived so long and see all of that..." She takes a drink of her gin. "I've always thought the Victorian era was fascinating- though I'm sure if I'd lived back then I'd have wound up one of Jack the Ripper's victims, or brutally murdered by someone somewhere." Just one of those thoughts she'd thought of idly.

Probably because she was sure that's how she'd die, here, too. Nancy did not believe she'd live very long, and to say that she would die peacefully of old age was just unthinkable.

"What was your least favorite, then?"

Well there's a morbid take on idle fantasy. He raises an eyebrow at Nancy's assertion she'd end up dead by the Ripper, but he doesn't comment on it.

Least favourite time, though. That's hard.

"If I didn't like a place, I typically just went somewhere else." He's a traveller at heart, the kind of person who only stays put until he gets bored. There's been a lot of dismal times all over the world, but for Eames personally, it's a tougher question. "I suppose I am glad ruffs aren't in fashion anymore."

Nancy laughs again. "Good point- get tired of our world, go back to yours, come back a few hundred years later and see what's changed." She supposes that she could do it, if it ever came down to that. Be immortal.

"Oh god- I guess you liked loin cloths a whole lot more." A joke, she doesn't know how old he actually is.

Oh god. Eames laughs at that and shakes his head, genuinely amused by the idea. He's never had the joy of wearing a loin cloth, but the man has no doubt he could pull the look off excellently.

"Well, it's certainly a look that works better for me than stockings and doublets."

There's a mental image for Nancy to enjoy.

And oh, oh, she is enjoying that mental image. Nancy grins. "I wish I had a picture of you back then- you're not drawn up in the National Gallery, somewhere, are you?"

Seriously, she'd die to see a picture of Eames in stockings and doublets.

"Or did you destroy all the evidence?"

"As if I'd leave that kind of material laying about." Imagine the blackmail! God. Eames shakes his head, "nobody would take me seriously ever again."

"Oh, please. I think I'll always take you seriously." Probably because he tended to hit a lot of buttons on her daddy issues.

"I really wish I could have seen it, though." She sighs almost dreamily. "I've got to find a way to make it happen."

"Well maybe for your birthday I'll... Never let that happen."

"Damn it!" Rude, Eames. "But I'll be 20. What if I have a stockings-and-doublet themed party, hmm?" For your favorite human? 20 is a big deal.

Eames seems to give this some thought, but he shakes his head with a bit of a regretful sigh instead, "I suppose I'll just have to miss it."

Sorry Nancy, not even for you.

"You're the worst." She pouts over at him, trying to do her Disney Princess worst. Come on, give in to this pretty face.

Well all that gets is a totally unconvinced pair of raised eyebrows, "that's a little strong."

fine, she will try again.

"you are... awful and never let me have fun...?"

"Only half true."

Give it up Nancy, it's never gonna happen.

Lafayette voice: you are the worst.

Nancy wrinkles her nose. "I'd really appreciate it?"

Eames laughs and shakes his head, reaching for another slice of pizza before he gives Nancy the bad news.

"You can try all you like, it's not happening."

"Do you thrive off of ruined dreams?" She just has to ask, though the fond look in her eyes shows that she's clearly joking.
