Alex took an unsuspecting bite of her brownie and hissed in pain when it burned her tongue. She forced herself to chew and swallow it, grimacing determinedly the whole time, and glanced sideways at him to see him trying to breathe the brownie cool. She waved the remains of hers through the air, trying to get it down to a more manageable temperature that way.

"What am I gonna do with that many brownies?" she asked in disbelief. Not that she didn't like brownies, but she was trying to eat at least kind of healthily. Very tentatively, she took another bite of her brownie. Much better.

She settled in a little more comfortably, just close enough to him that their elbows brushed, and waited for him to start the movie.
