Finnick shrugs one shoulder and looks back at the storefront, where a 'closed' sign now hangs in the window. No doubt the owner needs at least a day to recover from whatever beating or curse was laid upon them. Or perhaps those objects were the largest source of revenue. Finnick doesn't particularly care to stay and find out.

"I have my King and Queen, you have your High Priestess or your Mother, whatever you want to call it. I don't presume to know how witches organize themselves."

Nancy nods. "Precisely." Abigail was her High Priestess, her friend. She was the one who started it, and Nancy wasn't going to do anything stupid without her permission. Fagin could go fuck himself for what she cared of his opinions of witch matters. He'd kept her separate from that world, unaware she was a witch, for far too long.

"We have a degree of anonymity but. I can't trust that." Norrell knew who she was.

"Anonymity's no use when everyone's using it anyway," Finnick says with a sigh. "Someone has to be the face of change. Norrell's the face of his. It may make him more of a target, but it makes them stronger in the end."

He has a point. There weren't many records of her, anyway. She didn't legally exist, after all.

"And Abigial is the face of ours."

"Mm," Finnick says. He waits a beat and then looks at her again with a critical, almost cruel gaze. "Hasn't made much of an impression lately, has she? Norrell is huffing and puffing his way through London and Abigail is...?"

Nancy steels herself against the look. "She's been busy." She says simply, "So you shut your mouth. There's more to politics than battles and wars. Our entire faction is under attack from this." She gestures to the now-closed storefront.

"We're far more endangered than the fae." Fagin had taught her to play chess. She wasn't very good at it, but sometimes the best defense was to know when to retreat. "And we signed a treaty. We wouldn't attack Daybreak for the Fae, or with them. They've broken it, but we can't be the first to attack, as much as I wish we could. Don't believe me, ask Eames, he was there." Casually namedropping him like it's no big deal.

Finnick laughs, humourless. "I know very well what Eames did," he says, "and that's not the point. The point is that Daybreak has found ways to attack without attacking. If Midnight wants to survive, you have to find a way to do the same."

Well then.

"Perhaps we will." Her lips were pressed together in a thin line. She wasn't particularly a fan of this fae, that was for sure. One of the sort, she assumed, that looked down on humans. Though why he'd be involved in the territory disputes then she would never know.

"Well," Finnick says with an awful smirk. "I look forward to seeing what Miss Widdowson and hers have up their sleeves."

"Of course you do." Nancy pushes herself up from the wall.

"If you'll excuse me, I have more recon to do."

"Enjoy," he says as he watches her go, electing to stay here for the moment. He has no idea whether the conversation has been productive or not, but he certainly found it amusing while it lasted.
