Date: 12th~18th of October
Plot: Lambeth Territory Claim by Daybreak
Areas: Lambeth and surrounding areas!

The fae may have taken Croydon from Daybreak, but Daybreak is out to prove it is still strong -- and one Daybreak witch in particular is hoping to prove that he is the man to turn them around from the loss. Gilbert Norrell plans to bring order to the lawless territory of Lambeth, via less than pleasant means. He intends to drive out any troublemakers, anyone who disagrees with Daybreak, or have them persuaded by members of Hillingdon. Unfortunately for him, it won't be quite as easy as all that...

[ ooc; log for the Daybreak territory claim! You can give me a ping if you want to be involved and hadn't signed up already! It runs through the entire week, starting off quietly and subtly until the disappearances begin to be noticed and the fight back intensifies. Thread as little or as much as you like, start your own thread or tag what I put up for Norrell! (And sorry it's up a little late!) ]

Elizabeth grins, crouching down and happily showering him with many headpats. "Good boy, who's a good boy?"

Sorry Simon, you've probably heard that way too many times.

"Let's take care of this, then we'll get you home," she pats the side of his neck and hovers her other hand over his injured leg. After some muttered healing words and furrowing of her brow, the magic does what she wills it to do-- and it leaves her with a fresh bloody nose. That might be the last one she has in her, she's swaying on her knees once she's done.

There's no denying that witches can be dead useful at times.

The cut on Simon's legs closes instantly, leaving a smudge of dried blood on his fur. It still feels bruised and battered, but he can put all his weight on it again and that's a relief. He shows his thanks the best way he's able at the moment: by thumping his tail on the ground and licking her hand.

Which is actually a little gross and awkward, when he thinks about it...so he tries not to.

The witch is obviously spent. She sways alarmingly and he quickly moves to steady her. She can't pass out now, not when they're still mopping up pockets of resistance and she hasn't even gotten Simon back to his clothes yet.

He whines, trying to impress upon her the urgency of the situation.

Let's go.

"I'm okay," Elizabeth smiles and pats him again, mistaking the whine for one of concern. "It isn't safe out here, you should go home." Frowning, she looks for some kind of collar. "...where is your home anyway?"

And that is is cue.

He wags his tail and starts walking at an easy pace, turning towards the girl to make sure she's still following. He does this several times more as he leads her back towards the building they had used as an impromptu staging area when this whole nightmare began.

Simon doesn't stop until he's inside and standing next to a neat little bundle of clothes. He wags his tail again and starts rooting through it for his glasses and mobile phone.

Elizabeth follows, ultimately curious about where he's leading her and then wondering why he's headed for the staging area. Did he belong to someone in Daybreak? How awful would someone have to be to hurt a witch's pet because they couldn't find someone who could actually fight back?

"Hey!" Elizabeth hurries over to the pile of clothes. "I'm pretty sure that's not for you. Is that your master's--"

...definitely not a master's jacket. That's some men's underwear in there.

Elizabeth stares at the dog for a moment, her face frozen in horrified understanding.

...is she just going to stand there?

Simon wants to get changed and he's reasonably certain she knows what he is now, but...

Oh, what the hell. He needs to be human anyway. Might as well throw away his dignity and do it here.

He has the good sense, at least, to grab the underwear first and drag it to a mostly shady corner where he hopes he'll get some semblance of privacy. Really. Is voyeurism an American trait?

The dog's body blurs and lengthens, fur retreating into skin, and resolves into a lanky young man.

Who is completely naked.

He quickly turns his back to the wall and dons his boxers as fast as physically possible before making his unsteady way back to the rest of the clothes pile. He squints at it myopically and then over to the girl.

"Sorry about all that. I really am." He looks back down on the ground. "Can you see my glasses in all that? I can't see for shit in the dark."

No, voyeurism is certainly not an American trait, and it's definitely not one Elizabeth possesses. The second he starts to look human (and naked), Elizabeth makes a strange, uncertain sound and turns her back.

...oh God is he coming back to his clothes? Oh God. Of course he's coming back for his clothes, where else would he go?!

"I-- uh, wait, hold on--" Slowly, she lowers herself down, back still to him, and reaches behind herself to awkwardly pat at his clothes, looking for the glasses. Finally she finds them under a... shirt?-- and holds them out with her head turned the other way.

"No, I should be sorry, I shouldn't have talked to you like that, that was... incredibly demeaning, I honestly thought you were a dog."

"Cheers." He takes the glasses and puts them on, then starts throwing on his clothes as fast as he possibly can. He's wearing everything but his shoes and socks within a minute.

He smiles sheepishly when she tries to apologize. "I was a dog," he points out. "And you reacted just like any..." Animal lover? That sounded wrong. "...decent person would. It's not your fault I'm a shifter. And I really do appreciate the help. If you hadn't healed me...I wouldn't have been able to get back here, much less home."

"It's all I've been doing out here-- what I can to keep everyone alive and out of pain," she says, keeping her back firmly to him until she gets some kind of all-clear from the shapeshifter. "Even if they look just like a normal dog," she smiles a little.

Simon finishes tying his shoes and stands up, walking over to the girl. "You can...ah...you can look now," he says, still sounding very apologetic. He grabs his phone and pulls up an app. "It looks like things are pretty well cleaned up out there. Shall I call you a lift home? The trains've stopped running, but I can call Uber or get you a taxi. I'm meaning to get one myself; it's not out of my way."
