A. Redbright Institute
School might be out for the summer, but there are still plenty of students around. Some of them have dorms here, and others are just there for the summer classes. Regardless, Ekko is also there, keeping track of the underclassmen. Occasionally he has to guide a student to their classroom after they've gotten lost.
Sometimes he wonders why he took the position, but of course he knows why. It's just another small step in a quest for recognition. It's worth it. Even if he does have to deal with dealing with young kids.
Still, if he's needed or called for, he's there to help.
B. Everywhere
Ekko is seventeen and has about a year before he'll graduate. He knows that he wants to stay in London, and his grades are good enough for the universities here. But he also knows he's going to need a job. Which means there's a kid walking all over the place checking out stores and popping into them to ask for applications. Thankfully most have gone the way of electronic applications, but a few of them still have paper forms.
For shame.
He still takes them, slowly amassing a small collection of application forms over the day.
He may bump into people in his hurry to visit as many stores as possible. He could rewind so it never happened, but sometimes it's easier to just go with the timeline.
"Didn't see you there."

"They seem to get into everything, one way or another," just a gentle, fond jab at them.

Probably be in trouble, most likely. "Will you be also going with the group to attend the guardians ceremony in a month?"
no subject
The guardian ceremony? He considers it for a moment, it's not like he's going to end up as one and he's never been the biggest fan of law enforcement. "I might. We'll have to see what happens."
no subject
Last thing she wants to do is push him into something he didn't feel comfortable with. "We should, shouldn't we? Everyone has been so excited for it! Those in the staffroom at least. I know some of the teachers are taking bets on the guardians." A disapproving cluck from her here. "A lot are riding on the bet that there'll be no fae."
no subject
"People take bets on that stuff?" He feels like he shouldn't be surprised. "There's probably a reason fae don't usually get into it."
no subject
She places a hand on her cheek and tilts her head to the side, looking a little concerned. "It's just-- It seems a little unfair is all. If we're supposed to work together, why aren't we allowing opportunities for everyone?"
Surely a fae would be a good guardian. Lots of magic, connections maybe, and they can travel around in the Other Realm from what she understood. No need to pay them for travel costs.
no subject
Fae might be good guardians, but they're also pretty fickle and trusting them sounds like a bad idea. Especially with something important like this.
no subject
Which she doesn't have the head for, to be honest. That was more of Francisco's thing with how she had been content to cook and mend clothes. But! Th fae can't be that bad. A little strange from the stories she's heard but she's sure they're perfectly fine once you get to know them proper.
How bad could they be?
... Clara frowns and looks around to see if there's any wood around them. Then, after a few seconds, knocks on it. Just to be sure.
no subject
So he might decide to become involved in that side of things.
"Gotta knock on wood for a thought?"
no subject
His question brings her out of her worried thoughts as she laughs a bit, feeling silly for doing that now.
"Never hurts to be careful. Especially if you wonder how exactly bad a fae can be. I hate to be superstitious but--" Hello yes, they are here aren't they? A ghost and a boy who has powers out of something from a comic book or a game. "--life knows how to throw curveballs at you. Especially given last month and-- and everything, goodness."
no subject
"Might be a good idea, considering everything." Not that Ekko's superstitious about anything- except the dead. "It could get worse before it gets better."
no subject
She hates to imagine what could be worse than that. "You and the others should just focus on your studies and projects and looking for jobs after school. Not-- Not property disputes or things like. It just seems so strange. Like everyone is holding their breath for..."
For something. What that is is her, and possibly the school's, biggest concern.
no subject
"I can't just sit back when my classmates are getting threatened. It doesn't feel right to leave things to everybody else."
no subject
"I'm sure in the future, we'll get a chance to do something." She likes to think so. Much as the school and its territories are supposed to be safe zones, she knows sooner or later they'll have to do something to show they weren't to be pushed around. "I shouldn't be telling you this but-- I know that the staff have been debating getting 'into things' as I heard them say the other day. Getting more involved. Throw their, our, hats into a side."
The options were limited if this was the case: Circle Daybreak is an obvious choice given the founder of the school and then there's... others.
no subject
"We're getting cornered into it... If we have to, we have to. I'm not just going to let my classmates get threatened or worse."
no subject
Hopefully. She should keep a close eye on those developments and see if there's anything she can do to keep it peaceful as possible. "Ah! Speaking of the others-- I'm sure they're wondering where you are! I'll watch the hallways and make sure. You go rest or catch up with others. Alright? I'm so sorry I took up a lot of your time."
no subject
"See you around."
no subject
With that, Clara turns is quick to head down the hall to what looks like a little scuffle between a group.
