"When you spend most of your time hearing how abnormal your family is, you'd be inclined to support them at any point." It's a dry comment,and not the entire truth, but it is true which is the important thing. Wednesday would not be able to hold with disrespect - of any sort - to family.

Girl bit her lip, head cocked to the side. Her immediate thought was that it had to be humans making awful comments. "Did people make fun of your family for being witches?"

"Once," Wednesday confirms. "We're glad they don't burn witches anymore."

She grimaces in sympathy. "Yeah. You guys are lucky you've got laws on your side now."

[outofthemanor]

There's another pause, as Wednesday considers that. "Perhaps, but people use that protection to allow them to do things that are otherwise reprehensible."

Well, isn't that interesting. Girl has yet to hear many witches look at the rule that way. "You want the laws changed?" Girl starts. "You're talkin' about what they did to the fae, aren't you?"

Wednesday has tendency to look at things from the other angle when compared to most.

"A change would not be a bad thing," she says slowly. "As it stands, witches are not being held accountable for their actions and while the anarchy that reigns from such a thing is enjoyable, it can also lead to perversion of the worst kind." Yes, she means what they did to the Fae, among other things.

It's nothing Girl can disagree with. Well, maybe the anarchy part. At least not the kind she's seen the laws here cause.

"Maybe they ought to have you in charge of your coven. You might be able to talk some sense into the council." She figures Wednesday is intimidating enough to hold her own against them.

"Perhaps," is Wednesday's only comment on that one.

"The whole vague and mysterious thing would work for ya too." Well, for a witch leader. She's yet to meet a pack leader that did 'mystery' well.

"Whether or not I have aspirations for leadership of a coven is not a thing to be considered at the current moment." Wednesday said with a tone that said maybe she was considering ... slightly higher thing.

"Maybe for later then?" Wednesday was young anyway, and hadn't she mentioned being in university? Plenty of time to worry about taking over after that. "Or is the coven not what you're aimin' for?"

"My aim is for my studies," Wednesday replied. It was a diplomatic reply, if ever there was one.

An eyebrow raised. But she shouldn't be surprised. "Suppose I should have expected ya to say that. Better to keep those plans close to the vest."

"It is the wisest course of action," she commented lightly.

[thelastjoy]

She smiles briefly. "And you only do the wise thing."

[outofthemanor]

"I take whichever course best suits me," it was a clarification, not a contradiction. Sometimes, the wisest course of action was the one that best suited her. Sometimes, it wasn't.

"Ain't it the same thing?" Girl quips. "Ah, maybe that's the smart thing, knowin' that it's different."

[outofthemanor]

"It can be the same thing," Wednesday said, "it can also be very different."

One of Girl's eyebrows raise. "I'm gonna guess you're not 'bout to explain that, right?"

[outofthemanor]

"Of course not," Wednesday replied. Admittedly, she didn't see that there was anything to explain, but it was good that Girl was understanding of her own methods.

[thelastjoy]

She laughs and takes a few steps back towards the den. "Got it. I'll leave you to whatever plans you got brewin' that you're keepin' under wraps."

"I'd appreciate it."

[thelastjoy]

"Consider me gone, then." She turns, walking away with a lightness to her step.
