Cesare Borgia thought that Nancy and he were getting along well. In fact, he thought they were getting along very well indeed. They had shared drinks at this point, joked about the failures of their past lovers and even sassed about each other's prowess on occasion. Overall, things were going great.

So Cesare is....surprised when Nancy comes storming into his office with a look on her face that tells him nothing good is going to come of this.

"Please, Nancy. I'm in a meeting..." he says, sitting at his desk, gesturing at the young, beautiful woman opposite him. It's an excuse though. Quite frankly, he has no interest in the conversation that Nancy is about to throw at him, even if he has no idea just yet what it's actually going to be about.

(It's become gently NSFW in this thread btw with mentions of sex.)

"Oh, really? Then tell me, what is my type?" Cesare replies belligerently. Nancy seems very keen on telling him about himself. Perhaps she should focus on herself and her own relationships instead of meddling with his?

Yeah? Well, maybe she should! How about that?

"Someone who knows what they're doing." Like she had.

"Oh, because you did? I'm sorry, Nancy, but you weren't exactly the greatest moment of my sex life." He's not trying to be harsh, but he's trying to make a point.

The two of them had slept together a lot in the past for various reasons: it was convenient, they understood what the other wanted and they didn't need to waste time. Nancy was stable and consistent. But that doesn't necessarily mean that it's his favourite. Sometimes the best moments are when you don't expect them. Nancy was reliable but Lydia is exciting.

Nancy huffs at him. "I'm not even mad about that- Cesare, I'm telling you this whole thing is going to blow up and be a complete disaster."

"She knows that she needs to keep it a secret," he reassures her. "She's a sensible girl." Just about. Kinda. Ish. Either way, she's behaving well at the moment and doing exactly as he says. That's all he really wants.

"Sensible?" Nancy really just looks at him. "She thought she was dating a man who's name she didn't even know. That's not sensible."

That is a bit of a red flag for him. Not because she didn't know his name but because she seemed to think they were dating after a one night stand....a one night stand where he had paid her. Cesare thinks Nancy must have her facts wrong a bit there.

"She's a sweet girl. And what would you have me do? End everything with her? How would that make her feel? Would you be ok with her knowing that you're the reason why I did that?" He doesn't think so.

Nancy looks at him, her green eyes cold. "Don't you dare, Cesare. You will not tell her I'm involved at all- after all, isn't it your fault I'm involved in this in the first place? You're the one what asked me to see to Lydia in the first place! You can do it gently. It's better to do it now before she gets really attached."

"I don't think there's any way to do it gently, Nancy," Cesare replies with an eye roll and a scoff. "Besides, I don't want to. Maybe you should be focusing on your own relationship instead of mine? She's not even your girl..." If Nancy had been Lydia's madam like he had thought, that would be different. But she's not, so really Nancy should butt out.

Nancy's jaw tightens. Surely Cesare could tell something was up, if he shared an office with Cooper. That things between the two of them had changed.

"My relationship is perfectly fine. Yours is about to become a huge trainwreck."

Cesare really shouldn't have called whatever he was up to with Lydia a "relationship". It was an over statement and it means that now he's backed himself into a bit of a corner. He frowns and shakes his head.

"If it is, that's none of your business whatsoever.....Is this about the fact that I paid her instead of you? I'm sure if you wanted Cooper to pay up, he would. You have him wrapped around your little finger, don't you?"

Nancy lets out a growl of frustration. "It's not about the money. I have my own, legal job. I make my own money. Cooper doesn't have to pay me. I don't want him to pay me. And you know very well that he has never paid me for sex ever and I intend to keep it that way. Can you remember that?" Her ponytail swishes behind her head with irritation.

Cesare listens but only just. He's too busy mentally dismissing everything that she's saying.

"I'm not saying paying you for sex," Cesare replies with a bit of an eye roll. "Just in general. For your time. It's not like you haven't earned it." But yeah. Basically for sex. It's not like they'd be together if they weren't banging, after all. Sex is important. Nancy might as well receive some compensation.

"You know he's loaded, right?" All older vampires are, even if Cooper has the mental capacity of a preteen.

"No one needs to pay me for my time like it's some big trouble to spend time with you. It's not a bloody service rendered." Did Cesare have to pay people to be his friend, because that's what it was sounding like.

Nancy looks at Cesare and deadpans: "I've been living with him since September." So yeah, she was pretty clued into how wealthy her boyfriend was.

"Then you know he's not giving you any of it," Cesare responds instantly. It seems ridiculous that he wouldn't share his wealth at least somewhat. If Cesare were Nancy, he would use Cooper for all he was worth.

But wow. Was it really since September? It doesn't feel that long to Cesare, though perhaps he's just surprised that a child like Cooper can actually commit.

"No." She says coolly. "He gives me whatever I want, when I want it. Here's the thing: I don't want it." She likes earning her own money. Sure, she lets Cooper treat her, but she's a strong independent woman who doesn't need no man.

Except she's a strong codependent woman who really does need a man.

Cesare rolls his eyes at that. If she doesn't want things then why did she accept so much stuff for him when he employed her?

"Just like you don't want those shoes you're wearing?" The shoes that he gave her. What does Cooper think about that, he wonders.

Nancy glances down at her Valentinos.

"You bought me things because you wanted me to wear them. I never asked for them." Seriously, she never rang him up to tell him she wanted a new pair of Louboutins or anything. He just happened to give them to her.

"They were gifts. I accept gifts from Cooper, yeah. I just don't ask him to let me have his credit card so I can go to the high street!"

"Why not?" Cesare asks immediately. "You should. You're a kept woman now after all." At least that's how Cesare sees it.

"And if you don't like them then you shouldn't wear them. I hold no delusions that you're wearing those shoes for my benefit." She likes them. Otherwise why else does she have them on? That was part of what made their relationship work while it did: he lavished her with gifts and she coyly pretended they were too much but wore them anyway because she loved them. That was what was happening, right?

Nancy narrows her eyes. Apparently then by his definition she's almost always been a "kept woman".

"I don't like to. It's a simple as that." She smirks tightly. "And I do like all the gifts you've given me. If I didn't like them, I wouldn't wear them, I'd just fence 'em off."

"I know you like them," Cesare says easily. Of course she bloody does. "Not only do you wear them, you still wear them." If anything they've somewhat become wardrobe staples. Who says Cesare doesn't have taste?

"Don't act like it's such a damn hardship to receive gifts."

"It's not! Did I say it was? Because it's not!" But she never asked for them, was the thing. Cooper gifted her things as well, but she did ever ask for things. Of course, Cooper was incredibly rich and liked caring for her. He wanted to spend the money on her.

Nancy leans back. "It doesn't matter- point is, this thing with Lydia is going to be a complete and total disaster."

Oh no. The conversation has managed to get back round to him. He frowns. He doesn't like this one bit.

"You don't know that. You just think that because I have a past..." A past filled with a plethora of women (and a few men), whom he's all treated.....ok. Not great. But ok. Definitely not quite like the princess Lydia might be expecting.

"I understand that I need to treat this carefully." He's not an idiot ok.

Nancy gives him another arch look. She holds it for a moment, and then sighs.

"Fine. But don't say I never warned you."

She sits down, the moment the words leave her lips. "D'you have anything t'drink?"

Cesare rolls his eyes slightly but smiles. Good. They're getting back to their regular relationship. Now that Nancy is done judging him, they can actually enjoy themselves.

"Who do you think I am?" Nancy can call him a foolish cad all she likes but as soon as she implies he doesn't have wine, she has gone too far. It doesn't take long before he's already handing her a glass of scotch as he takes a sip of his own.

Nancy grins over at him and allows herself to relax a bit, laughing. "That's what I thought." She takes a drink of the top-shelf scotch.
