June Catch All for Dodger

[The Artful Dodger can be found anywhere about London during the course of a full month. Anywhere there's a crowd, there's work to be done, and if you know the hat, you'll be able to spot him easily. Or if you want to be spotted... well, he's always paying attention]

He knows Dodger's probably trying to figure out what kind of business Eames wants him for exactly, not exactly like Eames doesn't know all the ways Fagin keeps himself afloat, he's seen enough kids fall into the old bastard's clutches, but he doesn't care to dispel any anxieties about it just yet.

Eames is all smiles with the owners, a bit of polite "how's it going?" and all that chit chat, and he orders a couple of cups of tea and takes two menus to a table near the back with a good view of the door and the rest of the place. He slides one across the table, noticeably more relaxed now they're out of the den, and offers a tired smile, "said you're going to eat well, right?"

"Relax. You're much too young for my taste."

If it's a joke, it's not intoned like one. Eames leans back in his seat, watching the door rather than the kid, "but I find it's often better to talk business when there's food on the table."

"Old man says you're his best thief." Whether or not that's true remains to be seen, but they'll get to that later.

"We'll see about that." He doesn't sound impressed; he's seen a lot of people make that claim and he's seen a lot of people get sent down or killed trying to prove it too, but he's more than willing to be surprised by this kid.

Either way, their tea is coming and Eames sets his menu aside when he sees the woman coming over with a pair of mugs in her hands.

"Order your food and then we can talk."

Eames orders his own food with a smile and a polite thanks, and he leans back in his seat to observe Dodger impassively while he waits for the woman to move out of earshot.

"It's not a complicated job, but you're going to have to get a little... Creative." It's accompanied by an airy gesture and a glance at Dodger's face to watch how he's listening, "I need something out of someone's home, and that's going to be a challenge for you."

"It's the mother of witches, you're not going to be able to talk your way through the door on this one." He says flatly, just matter of fact. Even if the kid didn't need an invite to get in the place, he's fairly certain Samantha would have it warded to high hell, any fae would have a tough time with that.

"Yeah," he sees the look on Dodger's face, and he might not know all of what's going on in his head, but at least they're around the same page. The same chapter, perhaps.

"So if you can do it, great, but you need to tell me now if you can't make it work. There's only the one shot."

"Do what you need, just get it done." He doesn't care about whether or not the kid feels insulted, just if he's worth the time and money Eames is putting down. "I'm not paying extra for your team though."

The pay's good anyway, better than what he told Fagin it'd be. But Dodger can wait to find that bit out.
