Jean-Claude raises an eyebrow at the toast. He is the Duke of Islington, so he supposes that it makes sense for Joscelin to toast him, but all the same, he inclines his head towards the other vampire in turn.

I admit that I may not have been quite myself as of late." Between the politics of the city and the gift from home, it had stirred up memories of his past that Jean-Claude usually keeps deeply buried and well. Has left him rather melancholy and maudlin of late. Certainly he is not the first of the older vampires for Joscelin to have encountered in such a state, but it is definitely out of character for Jean-Claude himself.
