Briefly, his eyes flick over her, studying her expression. There's an earnest, determined kind of set to her jaw that Derek thinks makes her look more Hale than anything has. On some level, he finds that he understands, because maybe in this they're similar - need to make their own decisions, pick their own solutions. He's under no delusions about how attached she is to her coyote form, and this strikes him as a sacrifice.
