The blood runs slow and thick, and slumber is heavy
Abandoned or not, it seemed that someone had negotiated to get the lights and elevators running again in the old Kitterick hotel. Of course, most of the windows were draped over, particularly those of the penthouse thirteenth floor. Still, bars of light could be seen poking out here and there on the lower levels.
If the residents of the neighborhood were curious about this new development, however, they were certainly not saying so. In fact, there seemed to be an unofficial chill in effect in the surrounding area. Those few souls who were out on the streets scurried along quickly and fearfully on their business, restricting their activity to the daytime as if by some unspoken consensus.
Point was, the streets were clear of activity by nightfall. Whether the night would remain peaceful was anyone's guess.

LIGHT NEGOTIATIONS (Tal and Heiji)
He paused outside the fae lord's mansion, glancing at Tal. "So you're sure this guy has the thing, right?"
'The thing' being, of course, a rather singular artifact that they'd need to put a permanent stop to the vampire in question.

FIGHTING THE MINIONS (Free-for-all)
The hotel interior had once been decorated in grand style, with glass chandeliers, expensive furniture, tasteful wallpaper, and plush carpets. Now, however, all was in varying states of decay. Perhaps some elements of their environment could be used to the assault's advantage?
[No posting order, feel free to NPC minions]
FIGHTING CARMILLA
Carmilla herself was seated and waiting in the very back. She was pale-skinned, beautiful in the classical sense, with long red hair exquisitely bound up with ornaments that jangled when she moved. Her dress was wine-red cloth, exquisitely expensive and embroidered in gold; its train pooled on the floor behind her. Two vampire attendants remained motionless behind her. All in all, she was the picture of elegance. Of course, there was the small fact that the exquisitely carved throne on which she was resting depicted hundreds of screaming faces, some rising up out of the mouths of the others like misshapen tongues of bone and gaunt flesh.
"Well, well," she said as the elevator doors opened. She held an upturned skull in one hand; some dark liquid swirled about inside. "It isn't often that I receive visitors."
