Litha Feast (Open to all court members and human guests, dated for the 21st)

The grounds were brightly lit and festooned with decoration: trees covered in sweet-smelling dew, leaves of gold and red, vividly-colored streamers woven with thread finer than spider's silk. All around, the tables were piled high with all the food and wine one might expect of a grand feast. (Apparently, the fae had spared no expense.)

The Seelie King and Queen were present, though distanced from the rest of the revellers -- and quite a few revellers there were. Men and women with petals in their hair, clothes of vibrant silk and satin, and a rainbow of rare feathers and gems. Some looked human, some looked animal. Some, such as in the case of a well-dressed gentleman with skin like birch bark, looked like none of the above.

Eames has never been one to bother with festivities - something about all the pomp and splendour just doesn't quite fit him. It shows in his dress - a gorgeous suit; black with gold pinstripes and a snowdrop broach adorned on his lapel (it's a flower, okay) - but it's very much that. A suit. But hey, it's tailored perfectly.

It doesn't show in his manner, however. He mingles with an easy grace, sharing surprisingly positive conversation with those around - some he knows, some he doesn't. Laughing and smiling as if many of the assembled wouldn't happily tear eachother apart were the nature of the event any different. It's interesting to see the Seelie at the height of festivity, however. 600 years and he's never crashed a Seelie party, what would his friends say if they knew?

Nancy had been brought by an Unseelie, though she knew that Fagin liked to play both sides as much as he could. She knew that, besides that, her position as a human wandering around without her escort was a little touchy. But it was so much better to ditch Fagin than watch him try to paw over her all night. No thaaaank you.

She's in a seafoam green dress that sweeps the floor, her hair left down and wavy, though she'd managed to braid something of a crown into her hair using said hair and some white flower. The result was etherial, as it should have been, for such a place like this. But everyone seems to be dressed well- especially-

"Alright, now you I recognize." She approaches Eames smirking.

Eames' face goes through a weird series of expressions when he sees Nancy, surprise and a little annoyance being the main two. Not directed at her, which should hopefully be evident from the way he glances around the crowds after she speaks to him. But if he's here that means Fagin's around and he only has so much false civility stored up for the night.

Wherever the miserable bastard is, he's not in the immediate area, so Eames focuses on Nancy. Giving an appreciating look over her outfit, "well don't you look radiant?"

Please don't go looking for him, Eames. That would not be good. And it would cause a scene, and the human would get blamed.

Nancy blushes, looking down at her feet. "You don't look bad yourself. I've got to return the dress tomorrow." She didn't have the luxury of racks and racks of dresses. So she did the sensible thing and stole them with a little help from magic.

"I'd ask who tailors your suits, but I'm sure I'd never find them in London."

Hey now, he almost certainly wouldn't cause a scene. Probably. Actually it's probably for the best if he just pretends the guy's not here at all.

He laughs at the compliment and smooths his lapels in automatic response. "Truth be told, they were disappointed I didn't want something a little more..." He trails off, looking at the assembled in all their finery as he searches for the right word, "adventurous."

But enough about how well-dressed he is, Eames could go on at great length about how handsome he is and what great taste he has, but he's learned that most people tend to get bored of the topic pretty quickly. He cants his head thoughtfully instead, he can't imagine she's just here for fun. "So are you here for the contest, or as a guest?"

"I see." She nods as knowingly as she can. "You do look really great, all jokes aside- I think I classic look suits you." Classic for humans, at least. She supposed for Fae a classical look was something more akin to a toga or what-have-you. She was no great Fae scholar or anything near enough.

He was correct in that she wasn't here for fun, and she grimaces at the very idea of any other reason she'd be here. "Guest. Won a few years back, and after that, I've been asked every year to attend." She takes a drink of her flask like all of this is no big deal, when, rather, she'd pretend she wasn't here as Fagin's guest once again.

Eames frowns, an expression that could be mistaken for sympathy if he wasn't, well... Him. Nancy doesn't strike him as the kind of person who enjoys being carted around and shown off, especially not by the likes of her erstwhile guardian.

He tilts his head with a slight smirk and gestures around the room, "needn't let that stand in the way of having a good time, however."

No, no she did not. But here she was. Besides, he'd been parading her around for how many years now?

"I'm trying not to. Turns out I know a lot of people here, so, that helps."

"A bit of friendliness between the courts never goes amiss," Eames says with a smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes, tipping his glass in greeting to the fox. "And I must say, your people have put on quite the display."

He chuckles softly, "it's not quite to my taste, that's true. But I can recognize the beauty of it all regardless."

"Maybe next year. I'd like to see what kind of taste our hosts have before I start gambling on it." Eames smiles at the fox, bypassing the first question, and gestures to him questioningly. "What about you? Any favourites in the running?"

"Oh certainly," and his smile is a little more genuine at that; a man who loves a gamble, this one, "but there's a difference between uncertainty and blindness, no?"
