Daryl set the handkerchief on the floor and scooted himself against the wall before shifting into his bobcat form. He left the cloth to fall away naturally as the squirrel kid squirmed about and finally got her head free. She was bushy grey-brown one, tiny, but with big eyes.
She recognized him, of course, by the smell if nothing else, but she didn't recognize Liadan or her surroundings. Daryl flopped down and let himself start to doze. If she decided to investigate him and why an obvious predator hadn't killed her after catching her, that was on her. For now, he needed his sleep. And Liadan was there to help the tiny girl.
