A. REDBRIGHT INSTITUTE: CLASSROOM

It's after hours for Apollo and he couldn't be happier, even though the feeling of exhaustion he could do without. While it's a job he loved he could definitely do with a vacation anyway.

He's currently struggling to erase the top of his chalkboard where a taller student wrote out the answers. Smart kid, but liked to quietly pick on Apollo for his size anyway, and he's close to stomping into the nearest library and grabbing a stepladder.

B. ON THE TUBE.

Apollo has a better idea of where to go for this and that, thanks to it being a few months since his move. He's currently sitting in one of the trains, coming back from Harrow, though there's one problem.

He fell asleep, earphones in, cheek pressed into the silver rail and leaving an opening for anything to be taken. Genius.

"I take a lot of coffee and little sleep." Like that explains everything, or something.

"...But if everything goes well, this'll be my last term." Yep.

[eyeforaneye]

"If it goes well? I didn't realize your aim was to leave this job already." That seems strange. "Are you moving on to something else or focusing on your legal job full time?"

[apolly]

"I'm not telling you," Apollo responds with a grin, reaching forward to start writing instructions for tomorrow on the board. Whatever it took to save time, he'd do it.

"But if not, I'll be staying another term. Which isn't bad, I really like teaching."

[detectiveofthewest]

Look, dead bodies didn't just find themselves!!

"Really? Let's go!" Immediate was the change in Heiji's attitude; he lit up at once, clearly looking forward to the prospect. "So whattaya feel like picking up? Sandwiches? Or are we talkin' chips and candy?"

[eyeforaneye]

"Refusing to say anything sort of gives away that it isn't the second one." But if Apollo can juggle this he doesn't doubt that he can do more.

"Maybe you can give a few private lessons to older students or hire them on as paralegals."

[apolly]

You're such a keeper, Heiji.

"Whatever's on the street, I guess. Though a sandwich sounds good..." As if on cue, the train starts to slow and Apollo's head lifts to the lit sign to see if it was his stop or not. It must be since he stands up and slings the bag over his shoulder, heading over to the door and waiting for it to open.

[apolly]

"Not likely, I'll still be too busy either way." Now officially satisfied with chalkboard, he turns back to his desk and starts organizing the papers, everything under very specific dividers as he takes out his suitcase and starts packing everything.

"... I just like working to make a difference. I'll be doing that for the rest of my life."

[detectiveofthewest]

Wow. Wow. He didn't want to hear that from a lawyer with anger issues.

"Oh! Polish dogs!" Yep, that was a stand right outside the station and Heiji was approaching it at once. It was the sizzle and aroma of freshly-cooked meat, man. He was hungry.

Apollo is absolutely everyone's type, excuse you.

He follows behind Heiji, getting to the stand much slower but looking over and looking at the little menu of the stand.

Well, while he was here... He gives in and reaches for his wallet, popping it open.

"When was the last time you ate?"

Everyone's got the hots for Justice.

"Oh, probably this morning. I'm usually good about it, but I had a busy day." Heiji read through the menu, deciding on toppings. So many choices! So little time. "You know what it's like!"

this will be the best time i promise.

[warmheartedly]

Oops. Her comments at him.

Looking at him with an abashed expression on her face for her words, she looks back at the almost taunting scribble of text and suggests, "How about you let me do that? You can go focus on the rest of the cleaning up while I take care of it. It shouldn't be too hard for me."

She can float and hold things for longer than ten seconds. That's enough to get the job done, right?

"You're a pretty idealistic guy." Is it optimistic to think you can make a difference or pessimistic to see all the things in the world which need to be improved?

"You sound like an American television character or something, spouting off a line like that with a straight face."

[apolly]

"Oh, uh, sure." He's never seen a ghost do some housework before. That should be interesting.

He's not sure what to do with the eraser so he just... sets it down on the chalkboard holder. Uh. Hopefully that's helpful.

"You don't get tired or anything, do you?"

[apolly]

Hot damn.

"I, unfortunately, know way too much about that." He just orders one dog for himself, stirring the condiments to make sure they were still good. Years of cooking for himself made him an extremely picky eater, so he just goes with the simple stuff and calls it a day.

"What were you doing all day, then?"

[apolly]

"It's not idealistic if you make it happen, which I've done. I've won all my cases and I'll just keep that record up," Apollo shrugs, swinging the bag over his shoulder.

"I'd say it's more... ambition. If that's an American trait."

[detectiveofthewest]

Heiji sighed and restricted himself to one as well, though he looked a little regretfully at the stand as they walked on.

"Well, this dude almost ran me over at an intersection today, helped an old lady across the street, went to the library, ran into this one guy who came by the cafe a while ago, then it turned out someone had tried to dress up a suicide as a murder case..."

In other words, a lot. "I been thinking of quitting my cafe job, actually. I still like it, but there's a ton to do in London. I kinda want to see it all, y'know?" He sipped at the lemonade he'd bought. "Wow, that's sour."

[falsify]

Boring.

"No idea." Eames sighs and half-assedly drops Apollo's wallet in the vague area of his now open bag. "I got on a couple of stops ago, you seemed pretty out of it."

[warmheartedly]

She heads over to the eraser and picks it up with some ease, a look of concentration on her face to keep it from fumbling too much in her hand. Not that it stops her from answering any questions or comments.

"Sometimes if I do anything demanding but so far I've just been floating around," she explains as she begins to float up, ever so slowly. "You could say that, right now, I'm in good spirits!"

"You say it like it's so simple." Apollo's movements prompt his own memory and he reaches back for his own bag, digging around for a thin file.

"Here, this was in with your other papers at work. It's all student information so I figured it was lost in the shuffle; I reorganized."

[apolly]

... Heiji mentioned the murder thing way too casually. And it actually scares Apollo that he's way too used to it, and it shows in his shoulders and face. This guy was a piece of work sometimes.

He bites into his food as he listens, just savoring what was a real meal after what felt like days.

"I didn't even know you worked at a cafe. I guess we all need to have something to do if it isn't... stuff." Underground stuff, anyway.

"What, were you planning on moving?"

[apolly]

... "A couple of stops ago!?"

His head whips up to the lighted signs, and immediately relaxes once he sees the train hasn't reached his stop yet. It was such a chore waiting for the next train to take him back once he messed up. And he actually knows from experience.

Once the wallet's back where it belongs, he closes the flap immediately and pulls it closer to himself.

"Thank you for... looking after my stuff. I guess you kind of did in a weird way."

[apolly]

"So am I! I have to start summer classes soon, but maybe things'll change once it's done."

It's impressive, Clara's always impressive, but Apollo gets back to his own work to start sorting through whatever papers he had on his desk.

"... I'm considering the Night Council, that's all."

[apolly]

He blinks, taking the file from Sasuke and flipping it open to read down the names.

"... Oh!" Recognition shows on his face before he opens the drawer behind him to slide the file in. "It's all summer students. Were you planning to take classes over summer, too?"

[detectiveofthewest]

Wait and spend a little more time with Heiji, Apollo. Then you'll understand.

"Only part-time -- I thought it'd be neat to meet other people. Basically, I didn't think I'd stay here past a couple months. But now..." He shrugged and took a bite of his hot dog. "Maybe I'll get an apartment. Where do you live, do you like it there?"

[apolly]

"I live in Hounslow. My apartment's small and a little compact, but it's really nice for someone like me." Apollo was deeply considering getting a cat, though he'd have to ask if it was alright.

Did Heiji live in the Other Realm or something? He never actually asked. ... He could technically ask now, so.

"Where do you live right now?"
