Pretty much all of Caroline's instincts said hell no to that invitation. And yet she found herself nodding and heading for a table, partially because of a feeling of loyalty and partially because of sheer curiosity.

"I don't think I caught your name before," she said as she took her seat. "I'm Caroline."
