Jean-Claude can feel his heart pounding in his chest, pulse thundering in his ears, and there's a part of him that can hardly believe that he has succeeded in this either. It's not that he didn't believe himself capable of the hypothetical possibility of taking over the city. It's that he never believed he would ever have enough reason, enough backing, enough gall to step up and make it happen.
