vengefulyears: (let me make a list of all the)
Clive Dove ( Future Luke Triton ) ([personal profile] vengefulyears) wrote in [community profile] undergrounds2015-06-16 11:00 pm

open ✎ various dates and times starting on June 13th

A. Redbright Institute - Library
No matter how insane Clive's schedule gets, he always finds time at least one day a week to sit down in the Redbright library and study up on all things supernatural; different species and their abilities, ways to defend against them, magical items and spells, supernatural historical events... He wants to know it all. As a human working for the outreach group, it's crucial for him to become more proficient at identifying signs of supernatural activity and defending himself against supernatural species so that he can do his job more properly. Of course, some of his research is purely for satisfying his own personal curiosity, but there's nothing wrong with that, right?

He almost looks like a student, sitting at a table with a pile of books near his elbow and his Surface 3 Pro at his fingertips, diligently typing up notes on his readings that have been organized into very neat sections based on topic. Sometimes he even uses his tablet pen to sketch his own visual aids in there. He may not be an artist, but at least he can tell what his drawings are supposed to be... sort of.

Or maybe he's even falling asleep. Clive is notoriously bad at knowing when to take a break, so feel free to bother him either way.

B. Barnet - Pub
It's so nice to have such a charming little pub within walking distance of his mansion. Sure, Clive has his own personal bar back home that he keeps well-stocked, but sometimes it gets lonely drinking all by himself. This pub is the perfect place to go to after a long day of work or during the weekend to unwind, chat with other regulars over a nice glass of beer and decent food, and enjoy the lively pub atmosphere.

Of course, that sometimes includes witnessing a couple of drunken idiots getting into a very loud argument about some mundane subject that seems like it could escalate to a physical confrontation at any moment. Tonight is one such night when this is occurring, much to Clive's delight. Bar fights always made for the most quality entertainment. Will you join Clive in quietly (or not so quietly) making fun of these blokes? Will you be the brave soul to try and stop them? Or maybe you're one of the drunken idiots involved in the fight and aren't happy to see someone so amused at your rage...

C. Any of the Redbright territories
Even when Clive isn't on a formal assignment, he still tries to make a habit of hanging out in the Redbright territories when he can and making sure that people are keeping the peace. Secretly armed with his personal weapons plus a wooden stake he took from the training room at Redbright, he's confident that he's ready for just about anything. Probably. If you happen to be a supernatural creature openly using your powers, preying on seemingly innocent humans, or are currently being targeted by such a creature, expect Clive to get all up in your shit.

"Puttin' on the pressure, huh?" He started toward the spot Clive indicated. "I think you'll like it -- it came out pretty well, though I got a little distracted while I was makin' it. Turns out this guy who stopped by the cafe 'bout two weeks ago? I ran into him at the London Library. I chatted with him for a while and I even offered to make him a hand-poured cup of coffee next time he came in, but he totally blanked on my name."

Yep, still a little mad about that. "I mean, I know most people don't give cafe workers a second thought, but it kind of pissed me off -- he ain't even feel bad about it."

"Right? But I gotta be professional. Anyway, hopefully it doesn't affect the taste of the food. I really hope ya like it!" As they reached the tree, he slipped one of his bags off his shoulder.

"Mind settin' out the blanket?" He placed the other bag on the ground and opened it, reaching inside to take out of the first of several containers. "So what about you, how's your work been? Busy as always?"
detectiveofthewest: (Heiji: yeah!)

"Don't make too many enemies," said Heiji, setting out the containers on the blanket as Clive worked. "I kinda like havin' you around."

"Okay, I included a couple of sandwiches and snacks if you want 'em, but most of it's homemade. This one's chirashizushi, so you've got some tuna, salmon, roe, shrimp, eel.. bit harder to find other fish on short notice. This one's mostly tempura, I've got gyoza here as long as ya don't mind garlic. And you should try this rolled egg..."

He just kept... pulling out more boxes.

"Oh, and for drinks I got a thermos of green tea. I was thinkin' about bringing some sake, but I wasn't sure if I had enough room."
detectiveofthewest: (Heiji: haha no way)

You're not fooling anyone with that adorable smile, mister.

"Sure, you can take back whatever ya want! Not gonna eat all this myself, of course." If Heiji noticed that Clive wasn't drinking his tea, he'd probably ask about it. What kind of monster put sugar in green tea though, really.

"Oh...!" Heiji looked suddenly chagrined. "I'm sorry, I coulda sworn I packed some silverware, but..." He started hunting through his bags, looking for the utensils as he spoke.

"Say, there's something I been meaning to ask you. You don't have to answer if it's too person or anything, though."
detectiveofthewest: (Heiji: whatcha say?)

[personal profile] detectiveofthewest 2015-06-19 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, you remember when we first met, right? You were sayin' something about how you hated people who got too serious after you both agreed not to let things get personal." Heiji opened another container, found the utensils, and handed them to Clive.

"Did something happen with that? Seems like you might've had a bit more than an awkward moment or two."
detectiveofthewest: (Heiji: hey Kudou)

[personal profile] detectiveofthewest 2015-06-19 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Which was really all the answer that Heiji needed. Something had clearly happened, and he didn't want it to ruin lunch for Clive. It seemed like Clive got scant chance in any case to enjoy his days off.

"Don't worry about it," Heiji said, smiling. "Sorry for askin' out of the blue like that. I just didn't wanna leave it... y'know, hanging. So. I got another question for you -- you really gonna eat that with a fork?"
detectiveofthewest: (Heiji: hee.)

[personal profile] detectiveofthewest 2015-06-19 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Heiji laughed. "If I'd known, I woulda made it nigiri or makizushi instead. You're allowed to eat those with your hands." Oh well, it was kind of endearing, anyway.

"You were right about this place, though -- I really like it. And the weather decided to cooperate, which is even better." He popped a piece of gyoza into his mouth. "When I was a kid, I used to go out picnicking during springtime. The cherry blossoms were my favorite."
