Arthur's good at the compartmentalizing and speaking in very frank terms about awful tragedies. Maybe it's a holdover from the army, maybe he's always been this way. He knows when it's appropriate to try and be sensitive though, so he tries here to affect a sympathetic tone.

"I know you were kidnapped and held by some of Raymond Harris' followers," he says. "I don't have a lot of detail beyond that, honestly."
