"Yeah, my dad's really awesome," Roddy agreed. That was one of the things that Roddy was always grateful for. No matter how poor they were, or how shitty things were, he always knew that he and his dad would look out for each other.

Roddy smiled when she mentioned her own musical experience. So she really did have an interest in playing an instrument. Some people said things like that, but what they really wanted was to just magically know what to do, and have everyone appreciate the sound of the music. Annie, however, sounded like she likely knew the hard work and practice it took to learn and understand an instrument.
