Nobody ever expects to take Cesare's offer. Over the years he's realised that. In fact, many reject him outright immediately (he suspects pride has something to do with it). But people have a tendency to find themselves in need of money or shelter or a cover up, and their words (and pride) are often forgotten.

He's said his piece for now and so he smiles politely, his gaze firm as he bows his head and gets up to leave.
