Alex could still tell there was something wrong, though she couldn't figure out what it might be.
She shook her head. "I haven't for a while. Natasha thinks it's better the less he knows, that way he doesn't have to lie."
She took a step closer to him, her concern about whatever was wrong finally prompting her to ask, "Are you okay? Has anyone come after you because of all this?"
That should have been the first thing she asked. Of course she was worried about him, and of course she wanted to hear if anything bad happened to him because of what she did. But Kyle was usually a little slice of normality in her life, and mostly she'd just wanted to hug him and watch him cook.
