That actually makes Alex feel worse. Her father raised her to be merciless, especially to vampires, and she was trained as a killer. But it's never been easy for her, not as easy as it should be, because deep down she's always hated it. She doesn't want to kill anyone. Vampires, though, they're dangerous. Some of them, most of them, should be put down, and Alex hears Natasha's comment as 'I'm doing a better job of killing them than you.'

She frowns.

"Three months? You really think the fighting'll last that long?"
