Alex smells the man as soon as he sits next to her and snarls, shifting away from him. If she'd known she was meeting a vampire, she wouldn't have bothered to show up. Maybe it's true that not all of them are happy with Millicent, maybe some of them really do want her dead, but Alex has no reason to trust anyone aligned with Islington Nest. As far as she's concerned, they're more likely to trick her than genuinely help.

She resists the urge to pull her knife out. This place is way too public and full of humans to risk starting a fight. She frowns straight ahead, not looking at him, and replies, "Yeah, I'm thinking about renovating my apartment. Might put in a skylight."
