Kyle feels a weird sense of relief with her confirmation that it's not her kind of magic. Despite the insistence of Norrell, he believes her without question when she says it and that helps to alleviate some of his concerns about Midnight, the ones he hasn't been asking for fear of being right.

But the other part immediately makes him tense.

"No." Kyle slowly lowers his chopsticks, staring at his food in silence for a second before lifting his gaze to Nancy and elaborating. "You work here, you live there. I don't bring bobcats or bears around, you don't bring vampires, we all live."
