Faolan lets out another heavy sigh. "We didn't have any organization. We had two separate parts. One that wanted to stay the hell away from anything to do with the rest of the supernatural population, and one that thought that the whole thing was being done all wrong. The trouble was, the part that was of the opinion that things should change was also of the opinion that the answer to do that was to overthrow the Night Council." He gives the other man a significant look.
"They didn't understand what they were doing. They wanted a plant on the inside. And so the two groups fought amongst each other and wound up with me. A few months later, they were either killed of their own stupidity," not uncommon, given the dangers of being a hunter, "didn't like the way things were going and absconded, or decided to back me instead. And so I found myself in charge of the faction as well as being a Guardian."
He glances across at the other man. "I didn't...intend for all of this to happen. And once it did, I wasn't sure how to say anything about it. Making an announcement about having been a plant, wanting to spy on the government? That would hardly have gone over well."
