Alex immediately draws back when Elizabeth flinches away, wondering what that reaction means. She knows what it's like to be so tightly wound that every attempt at physical contact feels like an attack, and she knows people who are so badly damaged that trying to touch them under the wrong circumstances is just asking to get punched in the face.
Whether it's something like that, or simply that Elizabeth doesn't like to be touched, Alex doesn't know, but she files the information away and makes a mental note to not touch her again without fair warning.
"I can climb it." Alex glances at Elizabeth and smiles, proud of herself. "Check it out." She jumps up and grabs a slightly uneven brick that offers just enough of a handhold for her to haul herself upwards - she's easily strong enough to do a pull-up with just her fingertips.
It takes a few jumps, but eventually she gets up onto the top of the wall, lays down, and stretches her arm down for Elizabeth. "Jump. I'll pull you up."
