"Okay. I'll, uh." Alex smiles at him, half turning away as she speaks, once again somewhat flustered by his smile and how happy she is. "I'll stop by some time."
She turns to leave again, but stops immediately when he grabs her hand, wondering if he needs something or if something bad managed to happen in the few seconds that her back was turned.
"Is--" She realizes what he's doing just in time to draw back, but she doesn't get far enough to prevent his lips brushing against the corner of hers. She's about to snap at him when he drops her hand and grins and that useless platitude comes out of his mouth. It's not easy being friends with him when she wants more and all the reasons why that would be a bad idea keep seeming less and less important, and he's not making it any easier. She almost grabs him and kisses him. If they weren't in public, she might have.
Maybe it's for the best that they're surrounded by people, because it gives her a moment to take a deep breath and remind herself that cute boys are just a distraction. Killing Semak is all that matters, and that's where her focus needs to be.
She doesn't want to dance around Kyle anymore, she wants to make sure they both know exactly where they stand. No miscommunications, and definitely no more almost-kissing her in tube stations. Before he can get very far, she runs after him and grabs his arm, tugging him towards an out of the way corner where they can talk. She looks up at him determinedly for a moment, steeling herself to say, "You can't do stuff like that. We're just friends, okay? That's all this is gonna be."
