It was an exaggeration, of course. There were nests to be cleaned out, fellow soldiers wounded and killed, and a hell of a lot of recon to be done. They stayed as busy as you could, staying in a moderately limited area with sporadic resources. But some months on end were spent guarding a tango who no one came to find or waiting for the next operation from on high. It was all or nothing, dealing with trauma or nothing at all.
