Faolan shakes his head. "You didn't have to get me anything yourself. But you did. It's the spirit of the holiday, isn't it?" he asks, reaching forward to run his hand through the dog's fluffy mane. "Besides," he adds, not really thinking about what he's saying or admitting to because it's late and he has been up for a while and drinking a little, "it's not like I've really had anyone to buy anything for, the past while. Perhaps I enjoyed it."

He falls silent after a moment, stroking Lily's ears, before moving to stand. "We should probably sleep," he says, obviously changing the subject on the other man. "It's getting late, and I've no doubt that someone has no concept of the idea of sleeping in in the morning."
