It's probably for the best that Faolan hadn't been drinking or eating anything at the time that Coward had asked his question, for all that he had been craving a coffee. He might have ended up choking on or wearing it in response to such a question. His conversational partner might have wound up wearing it as well besides. As it was, he simply winds up sputtering.
"I didn't-- It's not-- He's a friend," he insists, a little pink around the edges because he does remember a few times when there might have been some things Lancelot had done, or some ways that Faolan had responded, which had been a little more than 'friendly'. "Just a friend. And coworker. Who's invited me over for Christmas."
He tries to save himself by talking budget instead. "Look, I. I don't have a lot. But he's already done a lot for me, and invited me over for the holiday besides, so. I figure I owe him a decent gift."
