"Independent is the nice word for it, I think," Maera says with a little giggle. "My mom just doesn't like people. Neither did my dad, really. All their ability to like people went to me." And even then, Maera isn't good with keeping people around her. "Mama's lucky that she doesn't have to work with people much when it comes to being a Seer."
