Night Tournament Closing Ceremony

This is it, the finale of the Night Tournament! The 16 competitors have battled it out across three different events, and tonight they will receive their ultimate reward. The closing ceremony is taking place at the Redbright Institute and the President himself will be in attendance to crown the champions.

The ceremony takes place from 9pm-midnight Saturday 26th August. Guests must have purchased a ticket in order to attend the event, unless of course you are one of the competitors or someone involved in organising the tournament. As well as President Cesare Borgia, the other members of the Night Council are also present, along with the event hosts and organisers Sylvia Redbright and Alexandrie Belrose.

Rules of entry
• No weapons. Any weapons or objects that could be used as weapons will be confiscated.
• No drugs or alcohol except that provided at the event. Don't try to sneak any in.
• No violence.

There is security present on the grounds during the event. The school itself is shut. (In fact, if your character is a member of the Redbright Institute, you could have them acting as security if you want.) They will respond to and put a stop to any trouble.

Order of events
Just like the opening ceremony, the entirety of tonight's closing ceremony takes place outside in the grounds, namely the football field. This time around, there is a single large stage and only limited seating around the edge of the field. The large bulk of the crowd will be standing in front of the stage. A number of stewards (student volunteers) will check tickets and direct guests over to the right place. They are also selling a variety of drinks and snacks to cater for all supernatural tastes.

9pm-9.30pm: Redbright Choir
Led by the Head of Music Ms Sandra Ng, the Redbright Choir is comprised of a variety of students representing all supernatural beings coming together to sing in harmony. They are accompanied by a live band on stage.

9.30-10.15pm: Champions Ceremony
On stage are the event organisers Sylvia Redbright, Alexandrie Belrose and Yasmine Merad, along with President Cesare Borgia of the Night Council. One by one the 16 competitors step on to the stage and are applauded by the crowd. Sylvia makes a speech congratulating the competitors. Then the individual champions are called forth to receive handshakes from the event organisers and be presented with their prize by the President. The prizes are presented in the following order:

Desmond Miles, Witch Champion
Lancelot, Meta Human Champion
Fun Ghoul, Werewolf Champion
Evie Frye, Vampire Champion
Eames, Night Champion

All the competitors except Eames receive a silver crown and a cheque for £1,000. Eames receives a golden crown, a cheque for £10,000 and a magic scroll which will grant him a special ability.

10.15pm-midnight: Light up the Night Concert
For the rest of the event, it's time to dance all night. Some of London's most famous (and least famous) supernatural bands, including Hester and the Spookycats, NSunk, My Faevourite Things, The Tinker Belles, Werehouse 13, Panic! At The Coven, The Bearwolves and Backstreet Wizards are performing amidst a starry night backdrop and a laser show. (It's hard to tell what's magic and what's technology – maybe it's both?) The music is loud, the drinks are free-flowing and the crowd are here to party. Want to let loose? Go wild.

Laura's been standing all night, thankful she chose to wear some sensible heels she'd long since charmed to not sink into the grass of the soccer field. (Football, she corrects herself. Her students had made fun of her for her Americanisms last semester.)

It's wonderful, she thinks, to see the community come together like this. She's happily applauded for all of the champions, competitors, and of course, screamed with pride when Fun Ghoul was crowned the wolf champion. She'll track him down later tonight, perhaps after a dance or two.

And yes, she will be dancing. Drink in her hand now that she can finally drink Not Wine, she'll be shaking her groove thing for a bit. It's been a long time since she's attended something like this. Maybe she should make it a habit.

Evie's crown is not silver. It's only looking like it's silver, but even so, she's not going to take it off. For some reason, she's grown quite fond of the crown, the way it sets off her dark hair. Another thing for Natasha to try to put her into, maybe make the photo into her home screen.

Honestly, Evie's miffed she's in second place. But Eames is a good competitor, and she maintains that if he hadn't gotten lucky during their fight, she would have won. Still, the showing was good, and she had plans to ask Eames for a rematch one day. Just for fun.

Mostly so she can prove herself totally badass, still.

All the same, it's exciting to be the Vampire Champion, and after the ceremony, Evie's happy to celebrate. Drinks and dancing, nothing fancy, just fun. This was her sort of party.

With so many friends in the competition, it's no wonder that Nancy is here for the closing ceremonies. She'd arrived on Cooper's arm, as expected when you date a member of the Night Council. Honestly, the speeches and the choir are boring, and she's really excited about the concert.

When the bands take the stage, Nancy's happy to get drunk and dance with anyone who's willing. If she's not dancing, she's mingling on the outskirts, talking to her friends and congratulating the champions she knows personally.

Honestly, she'll wind up being a shoulder for Lydia to cry on by the end of the night, she's quite sure.

Arthur's £100 richer and he's certainly letting loose tonight. After the presentations are done he has a drink in his hand and a smile on his face for the rest of the night almost like he has some sort of vested interest in how the results have turned out. He will, of course, deny this being the case, but he's jovial nonetheless.

Whenever he sees someone he knows he greets them with a smile and somewhere between a friendly pat on the arm and a hug depending on how familiar he is with them.

Natasha sneaks over to him at some point, slipping into place beside him, a drink in her hand as well. She smiles, warm. It's been a while. "You look like you're in a good mood."

"Seems like congratulations are in order." Evie does not have to prove she's a total badass to Natasha, so smiles slightly, relaxed—and exuding a subtle air of pride. "I wonder how we should celebrate."

Arthur looks away as he gives her a laugh that's almost shy, turning back to smile at her earnestly.

"I'm having fun," he explains with a shrug.

Evie wrinkles her nose, but leans in toward her girlfriend. "I could think of a few ways..."

Laura doesn't know the man she's standing next to at the bar, but whatever he's drinking looks pretty good. Never one to shy away from a conversation with a handsome young man, she turns to him. "If you don't mind- what is it you're drinking?"

[roddy_reinigen]

Roddy was in a great mood. His entire goal with this whole thing was to be species champion, since he didn't think he really stood a chance at night champion, and he'd made it. He'd earned significantly more points than a bear shifter, and he didn't even have to feel too badly about how he did in the fighting round, because he'd been beaten by the guy who blasted through all the challenges with no problem. Also, with his birthday being on the upcoming Thursday and $1,000 burning a hole in his pocket, Roddy was going to be able to throw one hell of a party. Life was good.

Roddy can be seen mingling and snacking throughout the night, and dancing along with the music once the concert began.

Arthur turns to raise an eyebrow at her, taking a second to process the question before he looks down at his drink.

"Just an old fashioned," he says, gesturing to the bartender. "This guy makes them pretty well."

"Good. Fun is good." She raises her glass in a sort of wordless half toast. As though to say, to fun. "I don't think you're the only one."

"If I know what you're thinking, those will have to wait until after." With a playfully arched brow, a playful smile. "Though I guess we could have a drink or two..."

Arthur returns the toast and takes another swig of his drink, letting out a dry laugh as he lowers it back down. "Everyone's managing to forget everything else that's going on, at least for the moment. I guess that's what this is supposed to be all about, right?"

[outstandingbalance]

"Is it? I think I'm still trying to figure out what the point is. But..." She shrugs. Despite her words, she doesn't seem negative. Her smile is as genuine as anyone else's. "I can't say it's not a nice distraction."

Natasha can use one, since the way things went down taking the job as a guardian.

Arthur raises an eyebrow at her wryly. "Do you need a nice distraction?" he asks.

[cabins]

"I'll have one of those, then." She smiles warmly first at the bartender, then back at Arthur.

"I'm Laura." She extends a hand.

[freelife]

That gets a quiet laugh from Evie. "Yes, certainly after."

"Or three." She wanted to celebrate. And try to hide her second place bitterness. Honestly, it made her miss her twin. But she wasn't supposed to be thinking about him right now. "And I was hoping to dance later, as well."

"Arthur," he replies easily, taking her hand and giving it a friendly shake. "Do you know one of the competitors?"

"Far be it from me to ignore one when it presents itself is all I'm saying." She bows her head slightly, with a sort of mock humility.

"A dance, huh?" Natasha cracks a smile on that. "I could probably be persuaded to dance."

Arthur smiles at her with an expression bordering on sympathetic.

"How've you been?" he asks.

[bellbound]

Mogget has no crown, not that he wants one. He just wants to leave this party, but that isn't an option either. Apparently he's supposed to play nice and congratulate the winners, as if that somehow makes him a graceful loser.

"Congratulations," he says to Evie, approaching her in human form: a strikingly pale man with white hair and a pure white suit. There's zero enthusiasm in his tone.

It's fair to say that Roddy is in a much better mood than Mogget, who approaches him in human form looking like he'd rather be anywhere else.

"I suppose congratulations are in order."

He definitely wouldn't have bet on Roddy to beat out the bear.

"I can't complain." Said with a slight smile, ironic only to herself. "My girlfriend got second place, which I'm sure has her feeling a little cranky, but I still get to be proud."
