Mother of Witches Takes Seat on the Night Council
By Charlene Pinter, Night Council Correspondent
The Mother of Witches Samantha Okeke has today officially accepted the Witch Representative seat on the Night Council, taking over from the incumbent Rep Nora Shannon. The two appeared together at yesterday's Beltane celebrations, receiving a warm welcome from the witch community.
Ms Shannon resigned from her post after experiencing visions of the Mother at the Beltane celebrations with a crown on her head that bore a symbol of the Night Council. No other candidate was nominated after the Mother's name was put forward, and Ms Okeke was therefore appointed.
Ms Shannon said: "My visions were unmistakable. Only the Mother of Witches can truly claim to represent all witches. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to serve as Witch Representative and give all my best to Samantha in taking on this important role."
President Redbright said: "I would like to thank Nora for her great service as Witch Representative in the past year. Her spirit and dedication are without equal. I look forward to welcoming Samantha to the Night Council and working together to protect and serve our community going forward."

Violence in Croydon TRIPLES following fae attack
By Dotty Palmer, South London Correspondent
Less than one month on from the fae attack on Croydon, a new report has emerged showing that violence in the area has TRIPLED in just a few short weeks. Night Council statistics reveal that the number of supernatural incidents in Croydon shot up from nine in the thirty days before the attack to twenty five since then. Our source at the Night Council told us: "This kind of uptick is expected whenever you get an increase in fae activity in any given area. We saw the same thing in Croydon the last time it was taken over by the Seelie Court."
Diane Truffle, a 38-year old mother of two, is a local witch who has lived in the borough throughout its troubled recent history. She said: "It's terrifying. I'm scared even to make a grocery trip. You never know what kind of creatures might be lurking around the corner. But we've got too much equity on the house to leave and I don't want to move my kids to a new school."

REVEALED: THE CHEATING PRESIDENT
By Charlene Pinter, Night Council Correspondent
President Sylvia Redbright cheated her way to the top of the Night Council, multiple sources have revealed. The London Lambast Daily has uncovered proof that President Redbright conspired with the then-Duchess of the Islington Nest, Millicent, in order to get herself elected as President in 1994. She has enjoyed comfortable majorities in the two decades since then, earning her the accolade of "most successful President of our time". But how much of that was with Millicent's help?
New sources have revealed that Redbright cut a deal with Millicent to ensure her victory using "all the supernatural, monetary and dubious means at her disposal", in return for granting the Islington Nest immunity and special protection from the Night Council.

By Charlene Pinter, Night Council Correspondent
President of the Night Council Sylvia Redbright has handed in her resignation today following a week of political turmoil after this paper revealed she cheated her way to the top of her first election for President in 1992.
Ms Redbright said: "Following the Night Council's vote of no confidence, I have hereby stepped down from my post and have called for an election for the Presidential seat.
