Islington Nest Christmas Party, Dec 17 [Open to all Nest members and their guests]

Caroline has worked hard to put together the evening's event, which is not only a Christmas party but also hopefully a chance for the Nest to celebrate its new leadership. The room at the Angelo has been decorated with a winter wonderland theme which, while not exactly original, is quite lovely.

A string quartet is playing a selection of Christmas and other classical music. Any attempts to feed on the musicians will result in the perpetrator getting thrown out the party, or worse. But feeding on any of the hired help or performers should be unnecessary, since several varieties of "blood punch" are available to drink. There is also food and other drinks available for non-vampire guests and anyone else who wishes to partake.

There is a strict black tie only dress code and Caroline will tell anyone who is under-dressed to go home and change.



[The event is happening on Dec 17th but I wanted to get it up early so everyone had time to do get involved if they so desired.]

Late Evening

Caroline had noticed the man in black watching from the shadows but didn't have a chance to do more than that until later in the evening, when she noticed him begin to participate, at least a little. She heads over and sits down at his table.

"Hi, I'm Caroline. I don't think we've met yet."

"I don’t believe we have," he answers, eyeing her for a moment before politely placing down his fork and wiping crumbs off his face with his napkin. "Mick. A pleasure, miss Caroline." Despite the genteel words, he seems a little solemn to be pleased about anything. Regardless, Micheletto extends his hand for a firm handshake.

Caroline takes his hand, her grip also firm. "Are you enjoying the party? And the cake?" He looked pretty dour on the outside but so did Stefan a lot of the time.

And she was not supposed to be thinking of Stefan tonight.

"I cannot say I've enjoyed most parties," he answers bluntly, motioning around to the room at large. "But this one has been... pleasant, as far as parties go. The cake is quite excellent."

He really is trying to reassure Caroline that it's not the party, it's him.

Pleasant isn't exactly the word Caroline had been aiming for but she tries not to let it show. "That's ... great." Oh yeah, that didn't let her disappointment show at all.

"So, have you lived in London long?"

"... I really am not much of a partygoer," he clarifies, his gaffe not unnoticed. "Believe me when I say a pleasant party is high praise."

He shrugs, noncommittally. "You?"

She smiles. "Okay, I guess. I'll still hope for better luck next time." After all, each party had to be better than the last one - or so different that comparison didn't really work.

"I've been here about six months now," she tells him, almost amazed to realize how long its been. Though sometimes it feels like even longer.

For a softspoken recluse like Micheletto, the opposite was usually true. Caroline had a bit of work ahead of her.

"So you are a veteran of the field," he muses, shifting in his seat slightly to face her more directly. "How has London treated you, thus far?"

"Good, for the most part. I've met some really great people and I have my own place for the first time and a good job. I really can't complain." Well, she didn't always love all the politics in the supernatural world but she isn't going to complain about them here and risk ruining the party. "It's a lovely city."
